Nominal time.
Alarm at 4:30, started at 6:00. Back at 8 to discover I forgot to punch 110. Then started a busy day. I took Alan's truck and motored up through the middle start to punch some controls on a loop that was running overtime. Then I got in the truck again and rushed off to punch a unit that had been missed in the technical area west of the middle start. After that I shadowed Martin. By the time we got back the start was ending so I helped clear up there and was just dozing off when Marion called about an unfindable control. Back in the truck and Alan and I hiked up to check it. Also bombproof.
After that it was arena work and a final trip to Stake Lake.
Then a shower and a Shocktop.
WCOC was a major project but the team was awesome--Alan is so calm, Marion so organized and detail focused. I love working with them. Then there was a big group of willing people behind us and joy of joys--our meet director gave birth to Emily Clara during the meet.
Nominal time. We started putting out controls at 6am. No issues. Finished easily by 8. Later shadowed Martin H on course 1. Later visited a couple of sites which a few folks complained about. Relieved but not surprised to find them bombproof. Later lots of arena work, a swim in Kamloops Lake and WCOC Banquet at Savona Hall. Shades of 1990. A real blast from the past was walking through the arena and spotting Charlie Fox and Ted De St Croix chatting.
Like all these Sabiston days the time is nominal. Spent the whole day there. Mainly water and arena setup today with just a few close in sites needing Si units and flags. Mid 20's.
Setting flags and units near Smith Camp Road. Built a few cairns where the ground was super hard. Huge contrast with the Whistler maps. A bit Smokey in town and there was a small fire at Copper Creek but it was clear and a bit cooler on the map.
COC Long. Never got lost but was very slow and not in race mode to #1. Poor route on 4. 14:39 back of Geraint. Basically an OK outing considering my hip/knee.
Much better focus today. Epic area. Many folks could not cope with the very steep slopes and found relocation very hard.
COC Middle,
Errors but never lost. 13:05 back of GE. Very technical area so I should have had a better result. Disappointed that I was not well focused. I liked the map and area.
