Note

Walk - Wharfedale 3 peaks. Started at Yockenthwaite, along the valley side to Cray, up Buckden Pike, down to Starbotton, up Great Whernside, down to Kettlewell, then the length of the Firth Fell/Birks Fell ridge to Horse Head and back down to Yockenthwaite.

Didn't see many people at all up in the hills. There were plenty of people at Kettlewell but it wasn't too crowded.

Very hot. I started with about 2.5 litres of water and drank all of it by the end, as well as a can from the cafe in Kettlewell. And I still felt dehydrated.

22.8 miles, 1500m climb 7.5 hours.

running 1:26:00 [3] 8.2 mi (10:29 / mi)

Bramley Beacon trig, which was on fire, and Whitecote trig, which is sort of in somebody's garden but still accessible. Slow and hot.

running 54:48 [3] 5.7 mi (9:37 / mi)

Scott Hall and Tunnel How Hill trigs. Not bad, a bit hot.

Wednesday May 27, 2020 #

running 1:00:00 [3] 6.1 mi (9:50 / mi)

Feeling much sprightlier than yesterday so I gave the Meanwood Road 5k another go. I was moving alright but the fluttery heart never stopped so I settled for 2 miles this time and didn't bother with the drag back up the very slight hill. 15:58 for 2 miles with a fluttery heart is ok, would be better without the flutter.

The cardiologist suggested it was probably ectopic beats. If it was anything more serious I don't think I would be able to run this fast.

Tuesday May 26, 2020 #

running 51:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:12 / mi)

I was intending to do a 5k tempo run, but I realised as soon as I started warming up that I wasn't really feeling very good. I settled for doing 1 fastish mile in 8:01 and then giving up. It was all I could do to get home after that.

Note

Family walk. Arncliffe Cote - Arncliffe - Middle House - Arncliffe Cote. Beautiful day and very quiet. We debated where to go for ages and eventually settled on this. Saw 5 other people by the river and only 1 other person all the time we were up on the hills.
