orienteering 56:09 [4] 6.5 km (8:38 / km)

Cumbrian Galoppen, Hawse End, Blue Course. Very easy, especially compared to Great Tower. I dithered before #2 losing about 30 seconds but that was the only time lost really. Paul Taylor was in sight behind me from #3 through to #11, and then in front of me from #12 to the finish, so it turned into a bit of a burn up. Well, a fairly slow motion burn up but I was trying hard.

Nice runnable forest, some steep climbs and descents, easy orienteering.

orienteering 2:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

YHJS training, Great Tower.

Hanging controls, then a bit of shadowing, then collecting in the first controls while simultaneously hanging out some more controls (this time with SI blocks on stakes). All very good, forest in beautiful condition, low bracken (mostly) and not too wet.

Speed and Strength 1:00:00 [4] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Warm up

4 x 3 minutes progression. Didn't have much left for the last 3 minutes.

Strength stuff, planks with leg raises mostly. Can't do them.

12 minutes of 60 metre sprint with some mini hurdles and steps, then jog back round to the start. Mini hurdles were a choice of about 8 inches or 12 inches high. The smaller ones didn't require a break in stride but the bigger ones were more of a formidable barrier.

Warm down and stretching.
