urban/sprint 57:00 [3] 6.3 km (9:03 / km)

York Uni urban. Could barely walk after yesterday so I wasn't expecting much today. I was a bit slow, but once I got going I was fine. Some confusion caused by a blatantly wrong bit of map (building with two extensions in different directions not on the map). Maybe not the best route in a couple of places but generally quite tidy.

Times were all messed up at the finish. I had -11 hours as my time. I think I was 5 minutes behind Jon x and 4 ahead of Evie so not too bad.

hill running 2:32:30 [3] 13.3 mi (11:28 / mi) +550m 10:10 / mi

Beamsley Beacon carpark, Deerstones, Bolton Bridge, Addingham Bridge, Lippersley Pike, Round Hill, Beamsley Beacon. Struggling to keep up any sort of pace from the start, but OK up to Addingham. Then I found the bridge was shut with barriers at each end. It's an old suspension footbridge so probably in danger of falling down. Anyway, I had no options but to cross or go back the way I had come, so I climbed around the barriers and walked gingerly across. Getting off the other end was considerably harder than getting on. That all cost me a bit of time and momentum, and then I dithered on the climb through the fields to reach the moor edge, and cocked up the last bit so had to climb a wall to reach the road, and not where I wanted to be. Then I had 3 good miles on familiar paths on the moor, running with the wind and feeling OK, but when I turned back into the wind and started climbing the wheels fell off. The last 3 miles were a real struggle.

Pleasant day, bright and quite mild but windy.

Edit : The bridge itself is sound, apparently. It's the steps at the eastern end that are "dangerous". Shut for repairs until April.

running 1:05:00 [3] 4.4 mi (14:46 / mi)

Beck Hole, Mallyan Spout, up the valley almost to the edge of the moor then back to Beck Hole through fields and woods. The path up the valley from Mallyan Spout was very rough and very slow going. We had a rest after that and never really got going again. Fat and slow. With Evie.
