orienteering 1:02:02 [4] 5.8 mi (10:42 / mi) +280m 9:18 / mi

Hurstwood, Short Brown. Very wet which made it harder to read the map. I used a magnifier in places and to read the detail I had to stop, wipe the magnifier, peer at the map and then move on. It took a few seconds each time but was better than not looking at the detail. I was happier with a magnifier than with specs.

I nearly missed #3, I was heading left of it and spotted it to my right, not where I was expecting it. And I was briefly lost at #15, stopped about 100m from the control. I gave the map an extra hard stare and worked it out eventually, less than a minute lost. Other than that all good.

Beat Parkino by a couple of minutes, David Bowman by another couple, and all the SHI W20s were slower than David. There are no other results available yet.

Edit : Results now available - I was 2nd, a few seconds down on Charles Mayes. And one of the SHI W20s (Laura King) was a few seconds behind me.

Feeling a bit coldy when I got home. Didn't bother running as intended.

running 51:15 [5] 6.5 mi (7:53 / mi) +200m 7:12 / mi

Adel Crag. Aiming to go a bit faster than of late, accidentally ended up with a post-op pb. Steady start, fast middle section and hanging on but not really slowing down at the end.
