orienteering race 1:12:25 [5] 9.9 km (7:19 / km) +360m 6:11 / km

Midland Champs, Bentley Woods. Lovely sunny day, nice woods, mostly fairly easy orienteering. I might have been the only person to go right of the lake on number 3 but I don't think it cost me anything. Some people were faster than me, but they would have been anyway. I was also fairly happy with my line on the long leg to #9. Other than that, maybe a 5 second hesitation at #8 when I was dead on line and 20 metres short and couldn't see it, then a similar hesitation at #23 when I was looking for a depression and all I could see was a thicket. Should have read all the way to the end of the control descriptions. So I don't really think I could have gone much faster and I felt I was running pretty well. I lost a few places after the second road crossing, when we were just running through fields mostly.

6th on M45, 3 minutes down on Daniel Gooch, 2 down on Andy Thorpe, Ifor, Rich Barrett and Al Landels.

I was also behind 7 M50s, Charlie fastest with 64.

Terrain running 35:00 [4] 3.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Terrain intervals, Castle Hills. Better than last time, maybe because I had a better idea of where I was going. 3:34, 4:13, 3:31, 4:28. A bit slow on the last one, not helped by face planting with 100m to go.

running 29:45 [3] 3.3 mi (9:01 / mi)

Parkside and Weetwood with Evie. Reasonable pace. Unreasonable weather, cold, windy, wet.
