obstacle race 1:19:54 [5] 12.0 km (6:40 / km)

Total Warrior. I went better than last year and coped with most of the obstacles better. I still can't deal with anything where I am hanging by my arms though, my shoulders just collapse. Last year I died at about 8k, this year it was more like 10.5 and I just struggled with the last hill and the monkey bars. Paul caught me on the last hill and we finished together. I think he could easily have dropped me if he wanted to. We were both much faster than last year, me by about 10 minutes. The course was a bit different and maybe 3 or 4 minutes quicker judging by the leading times, but still definitely a big improvement.

After about 8k there was a jumping obstacle where you had to try and hit a bell and land in water. I missed the bell but the effort gave me instant cramp in my right calf, so I had to try and swim out while simultaneously trying to stretch my calf out and not drown. It wasn't too bad until after I finished then it seized up completely. Also I seem to have bruised my rib somewhere, probably on the water slide.

61st place out of 4700+, 13th male 40-49. I would have been 5th female, if I was female. Winning time 53:19.

A bit cooler today, a bit of rain, and felt much better for it.

running 24:25 [3] 2.8 mi (8:43 / mi)

Stepping Stones, cruising along comfortably enough but just not feeling like I had anything more. Quad still a little sore.

Not really with it and feeling very sluggish to start with, but able to go quite quickly all the same. When I turned for home I was on for quite a fast time so I speeded up a bit to make it even faster. Five minutes later I had to stop with a painful right quad and just jogged very gently home from there. By the time I got home all of my muscles were aching.

Not sure what the problem was. The pain came on gradually, after I stopped it pretty much went away.
