orienteering 55:21 [5] 6.2 km (8:56 / km) +285m 7:16 / km

Bethecar Moor, Short Brown course. Very wet and quite windy. Fairly easy navigation and fairly runnable despite the sogginess. Kirsten Strain caught me a minute at #1 and I tried to hang on for a while. Went too far right en-route to 4 and ended up taking the track which wasn't my intention when I started the leg. Might have cost me half a minute. I blame Kirsten, although she stayed in the terrain. She disappeared out of sight when we started climbing to #6 which was a bit of a struggle against the wind. She must have lost time later on because I could see her ahead of me again at #10 and from there to the finish I was running faster than she was. I caught her on the run-in but failed to pass her.

8:39 behind Clive. Nearly 6 minutes behind Jase, and beaten by Charles Mayes so I was 3rd M45. Not as good as yesterday.

orienteering race 38:10 [5] 4.2 km (9:05 / km)

Simpson Ground middle distance, Brown course. A pretty good run. Small mistakes in the circle at #4 and #12, otherwise fine. I caught Andy Thorpe at #9 and never got away from him. He was running faster, I was navigating better, mostly, apart from #12.

4 mins down on Charlie. 2nd M45 behind Lard, 2 mins down.

On this form I would make a reasonably competitive elite woman - I beat Claire Ward.

Note

Time to take stock. I had a vague plan starting in August to try and do 30mpw until Bonfire Night. From Thursday 20th August to Thursday 5th November is 11 weeks and 1 day. 30 mpw would be 334.3 miles. So far I have done 332.8 miles, so I need to do 1.5 miles tonight.

Then what?

running 24:04 [2] 2.5 mi (9:38 / mi)

Oxley. There.

running 57:24 [3] 6.1 mi (9:25 / mi)

From Eaglescliffe round the river to the Blue Bell and on to Aislaby, then back through the fields, up Stoney Bank and through Egglescliffe. Slow and steady, and it got a bit dark on the way back. Not as muddy as I expected.

running 43:18 [4] 5.3 mi (8:10 / mi)
ahr:139 max:149

Potternewton, Gledhow Park and Chapel A. Set out intending to beat my best time from last winter. In the end I beat it comfortably but it was hard work. Still tired from the weekend I guess.

Monday Nov 2, 2015 #

running 28:20 [3] 3.2 mi (8:51 / mi)
ahr:127 max:137

Weetwood and Lawnswood. Steady.
