Seven Arches. Feeling a bit more like a runner. Kept going reasonably well.

Note

Walk. Grassington - Grass Wood - Conistone - Conistone Dib - Great Whernside - Kettlewell - Dales Way back to Grassington. Got a bit windy when I climbed up after Conistone Dib and once above 400m I was in cloud and it got a bit wet and unpleasant. Fine once I got back below the cloud again above Kettlewell and dried out on the way back to Grassington. Saw a live mole - I think for the first time ever. It just ran across the path, waggling its feet. Also saw two runners going from Kettlewell to Grassington, except that as soon as they started climbing they started walking. I put in a bit of effort to go past them on the climb then they shuffled past again once the path flattened out. HR went up to 160 as I strolled past them. I could still see them as we neared Grassington, maybe 4 miles later.

17 miles, maybe 700m climb, 4 hours 50.

running 28:00 [3] 3.0 mi (9:20 / mi)

Went out to do 3 loops of Shaw Lane/Otley Road/Moor Road (1 mile per lap) with the intention of doing 10 minutes/8 minutes/10 minutes. First easy lap was ok, but 8 minutes was never going to happen. Struggled round in 8:30, then did the last lap in 9:30 because I miscalculated and hadn't allowed for the extra half minute I had already used up.

Stepping stones. Improving.

Stepping stones, very slow. My HR monitor wasn't functioning very well so I kept stopping to check my pulse. I think possibly it needs a new battery but maybe a new HRM is called for. Surely technology has moved on in the last 6 years?
