orienteering race 53:47 [4] 7.7 km (6:59 / km) +100m 6:34 / km

level C event, Ashdale near Helmsley . Very easy Brown course, short with mostly orange standard controls. I quite enjoyed it though.

orienteering 55:00 [3] 6.4 km (8:36 / km) +100m 7:58 / km

I have volunteered to hang controls for a night event in Temple Newsam next week because the planner has just found out he has to be elsewhere. I cruised around today checking I could find his tapes. I didn't find all of them but there's only 2 where I might need to consult with the controller, and I wasn't hanging around because lots of it is in the middle of a golf course and I was getting some funny looks. As if I was the one behaving oddly.

running intervals 20:50 [4] 5.0 km (4:10 / km) +10m 4:08 / km

5 x 1k in West Park, 2 mins rest. I was sort of aiming for 4:05 for each one but hopelessly misjudged the first and only got vaguely close on the others. I'll get better at it I suppose.

4:20, 4:09, 4:06, 4:08, 4:07.

Not as comfortable as the last time I did these. At least I beat the time I did for 5k non-stop. Damp and a bit slippy in places which didn't help. It also doesn't help that I struggle to read the lap-time display on my watch - too small - so I don't get any time checks mid-lap.

I might have got a Garmin for Christmas if Mrs Frostbite hadn't decided to retire.

running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

To and from West Park and a few strides to loosen up.

running 1:05:00 [3] 7.5 mi (8:40 / mi) +200m 8:00 / mi

Plod around Gledhow/Chapel Allerton. I felt alright when I started and I was only plodding but my legs were still knackered by the time I got to King Lane and I was only just running for the last 2 miles.

Poor.

running 43:08 [4] 5.75 mi (7:30 / mi) +120m 7:03 / mi

Adel Church. I had the inclination to go quite quick again, which was fine except my legs were still pretty sore. Kept it going quite well and actually did a pb for this run.

Need to do something easier tomorrow.

Parkside and Weetwood. Legs are sore - I really overdid it yesterday. Just plodding mostly, but I managed to stride out a bit towards the end.
