hill running 1:12:00 [3] 7.5 mi (9:36 / mi) +330m 8:27 / mi

From Timble Ings to Round Hill via Lippersley Pike, then looped back round through the heather to Gawk Hall Gate and followed the Roman Road back into Timble Ings from the north. Reasonably quick as far as round hill, then I lost interest a bit and was a bit tired I guess.
2 PM

Note

Walk up Buckden Pike from Buckden, returning via Buckden Lead Mine, with Tasha, Evie and Stan. Beautiful day, a bit too hot in the valley but pleasantly cool higher up. You could see every hill in the Dales from the top.

hill running 24:00 [5] 2.5 mi (9:36 / mi) +200m 7:41 / mi

The Chevin, 1 and a half climbs. From the top car park at Danefield across the road and along the top of the Chevin and down to West Chevin Road, then straight back up again and across the path above the crags. That bit was done as fast as I could, 24 minutes, then I jogged back to the car having had enough.

Adel Crag - started fairly slowly with the aim of enjoying the sunshine and not straining at all, just making sure I would do the full run. I wasn't as slow as I thought I would be and speeded up a little bit towards the end. A big improvement.

running 32:00 [3] 3.5 mi (9:09 / mi) +80m 8:32 / mi

Set off to do Adel Crag but not feeling great. The pace wasn't too slow but it wasn't too fast either and I was really struggling. I decided to call it a day at Bywater and jogged back. Now I definitely have a cold - I just have to hope it goes quickly and I can get back to proper running. I didn't have any palpitations mind, just tightness in the chest, rough breathing and aching legs.

orienteering 1:00:30 [3] 7.0 km (8:39 / km) +200m 7:34 / km

Short Brown course, Timble and Askwith. I wasn't really feeling very good to start with, and the moor was a bit of a slog. Couldn't make any sense of number 1 but I know I was somewhere near. The rest of the moor was fine but I was dead on my feet when I got to 4. I decided not to climb the fence into the enclosed bit of moor (I was in sight of a farmer type) and jogged round the track to the crossing point between 5 and 6. After my little rest I picked up a bit and I was ok in the woods - I was standing within a few yards of 7 without seeing the hole and lost maybe 30 seconds I wouldn't have lost with a kite there, and at 8 I know I was approximately right but couldn't see any ditches. All the rest were fine. Total time 60:30 is well down on racing speed, although I will have lost 4 minutes maybe jogging round the field at 5. Now very tired.

treadmill session 15:00 [3] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

In the hospital for a treadmill test. I should have known something was up because my resting HR was in the mid 50s before I started (usually low 40s). I was fine walking, then jogging, but all the time my HR was higher than I thought it should be. Then when it was getting up towards 160 it suddenly jumped up to 180 then went all over the place - as far as I was concerned perfectly ordinary AF and nothing to worry about - no dizziness or faintness or shortness of breath. The doctor overseeing the test immediately booked me into a ward and the AF stopped after an hour or so. I had to wait a further 5 hours for a consultant to come and say that it was perfectly ordinary AF and nothing to worry about, and send me home.

I think I am coming down with a cold.
