Note

Walking with Stan - Hole of Horcum, Blakey Topping, Bridestones, Lockton and up the valley back to Hole of Horcum. I'd never been to Blakey Topping or the Bridestones before. Blakey Topping was not worth the detour. The Bridestones were interesting enough and the walk up the valley from Lockton was great, so half a good walk joined together by some boring bits. 10 miles, 500m of climb, 4 hours or thereabouts.

running 1:17:00 [3] 8.0 mi (9:37 / mi) +350m 8:28 / mi

From Little Almscliffe, by way of Scargill and Beaver Dyke Reservoirs, the Sun Inn, Swinsty Reservoir, Sword Point, Lindley Moor. Very pleasant, lovely morning, not in any hurry except I put a bit of effort in up the hill to Sword Point. Nice.

Terrain running intervals 15:00 [5] 2.8 km (5:21 / km) +60m 4:50 / km

same as last week - terrain intervals in Castle Hills. Parked at Squire's Cafe this week which meant a longer run in, but much more pleasant. Also feeling a bit stronger in the terrain but still finding the uphills really hard. Started downhill this week. 3:08, 3:53, 3:10, 4:05, with 2 minute rests.

It was a gorgeous evening, golden sunshine lighting up the view across the Vale of York to the Wolds and a big moon sitting in the sky above Drax power station.

Not feeling great - not bad to Lawnswood but struggling a bit coming down the hill. I also got held up a lot, partly by crowds of people dressed as leprechauns on the pavements outside the pubs.

from work to South Elmsall via Trough Lane
6 PM

running 49:00 [3] 5.2 mi (9:25 / mi) +80m 9:00 / mi

From Office Lock to Kirkstall along the canal, then up Kirkstall Lane to Headingley and home via Wood Lane/Grove Road. It was just about light when I set off but completely dark by the time I got to Kirkstall. I was also feeling quite feeble - the weekend was quite hard work for me and it is difficult to eat right for these disjointed runs home. Plodding.
