orienteering race 39:53 [5] 5.1 km (7:49 / km) +160m 6:46 / km

Honley Woods blue course. I was tired and we were short of time so I did the Blue - and came 1st!

Physically I was pretty good to about half way, then started to struggle a bit. Technically I was fine apart from number 6 where I made a basic error. Control was a crag amongst an area of holly bushes (although not actually in a holly bush itself) with an obvious attack point - so I didn't bother with the attack point, cut into the green too early and wandered around for a minute and a half.

running warm up/down 21:00 [3] 2.5 km (8:24 / km)

Jogging round the yellow course following Evie. She was too fast for me.

orienteering 52:00 [4] 6.6 km (7:53 / km) +300m 6:25 / km

Brown course on the Chevin, from the event a few weeks ago. I was well tired and still stiff and sore in the calves so it was all hard work. I've never orienteered on the Chevin before. The map is a bit vague - the contours don't show the big shapes, so you have re-entrants mapped as point features with the underlying shapes just not being there. Anyway it was easy enough technically but very hard physically - just what I wanted.

Terrain running intervals 16:00 [4] 2.8 km (5:43 / km)

terrain intervals at Castle Hills. Despite looking beautifully runnable it is surprisingly hard work, or maybe I am just really struggling. End to end, from the railway to the mast, is about 700m with a 30m climb or descent depending which way I was going. 2 min rest between efforts. 4:00, 3:20, 4:08, 3:16. My calves stiffened up while I was running, not sure why, but possibly because of arseing about yesterday

Terrain running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +50m 9:17 / mi

plodding around Castle Hills to warm up, then afterwards I had a look at the wood on the other side of the railways which looks more like a commercial wood and not so pleasant (Castle Hills is owned by Leeds City Council). My heart rate has been a bit unstable all day but it settled down as soon as I got going.

Speed and Strength 15:00 [2]

Finally got rid of the monitor today and to make up for it I've been getting palpitations ever since. I couldn't really go out for a run anyway this evening coz Mrs Frostbite is away, so I settled for arseing about in the house (running up and down stairs and running on the spot, a few pressups) just to get the heart rate up to speed. I could get it up into the 130s and the heart rhythm stabilised so running would probably have been ok. I think I am just getting a cold maybe.

running 24:00 [3] 2.5 mi (9:36 / mi) +40m 9:09 / mi

Jogging, Oxley. Inactivity is bad for me - my right hamstring is sore and stiff and I am tired. I keep getting wrapped up in cables when I sleep. Moan moan moan.
