Kettlewell, Great Whernside via Dowber Gill and Hag Dyke, Buckden Pike, Buckden Lead Mine, Starbotton, Kettlewell along the river - as in May. I felt quite perky at the start but when I climbed out of the valley there was a big headwind that slowed me down on the climb of Great Whernside - 43 minutes to the top. After that it got hard, all the way across to Buckden Pike was 4 miles of ankle deep bog, except in the places where it was thigh deep bog - it nearly did for me. Once I reached the summit ridge it wasn't too bad. It was sunny all day in the valley but Buckden Pike was in cloud the whole time, and with the wind as well it was a bit unpleasant up there. On the way down I was just concentrating on keeping going. 2:24 in the end, quicker than last time but it was much harder work.
