Note

Walk. From Widdop, followed the Pennine Way past Withins to Ponden, then the Bronte Way across to Smithy Clough above Wycoller, then the Pennine Bridleway to above Hurstwood, then Gorple Road back to Widdop. It poured down for the first 4.5 hours, also windy and pretty cold. Then the rain stopped and the sun came out. Plodding steadily but it was hard to make progress in places. Fortunately the Pennine Bridleway all has a decent surface so the second half was easier. 18 miles, 5.5 hours.

running 32:00 [3] 3.1 mi (10:19 / mi)

Jogging round the park.

Note

Walking.

Halton Height - Bolton Abbey - along the river past Burnsall as far as the Hebden suspension bridge - Thorpe - Cracoe Obelisk - Rylstone Cross - bridleway back to Halton Height.

20 miles, 5:45, carrying 6kg. Easy going by the river, heavy going on the moors.

No heart problems. Chugged up the one big climb out of Thorpe without trying too hard. A bit stiff later on and the back of my right knee is a bit painful.

Well...

I don't have A-fib at the moment. I have atrial flutter instead. I'm assured that this is not a development of the A-fib but something different altogether (although it feels much the same) and is coming from a different part of the heart. And they can deal with it fairly easily with another ablation.

I think I have to conclude that my heart is fucked, but I'll give it a go anyway.

Hmmm. On Friday I said I was reluctant to do any running in case I got more palpitations. On Saturday and Sunday I went running. Now I have palpitations.

I should pay more attention to myself.

hill running 1:29:00 [3] 6.5 mi (13:42 / mi) +300m 11:58 / mi

From Blencathra Centre, loop of Glenderaterra valley then Latrigg and back. Set off with Tasha and Mo, not very quick but my legs were shafted from yesterday. another beautiful day. They turned back at the top of the valley, I just kept plodding on. Great views.

Had to work hard to climb up to the centre from crossing the beck, the biggest steepest climb of the run, and I ended up with palpitations again after I had finished. Not very surprising really, perhaps I should have taken it a bit easier.

hill running 1:23:00 [4] 5.0 mi (16:36 / mi) +650m 11:49 / mi

Blencathra Centre, ascent of Halls Fell to the top of Blencathra, then straight back to Blencathra Centre over Blease Fell. I wasn't planning to do much but it was such a beautiful day and everybody else was going up Halls Fell so I went too. It was a bit of a brutal run after a week and a half off and the biggest steepest climb I have done in a very long time. I got left behind a bit, not surprisingly, but caught Roger when we got into the rocky bits. We jogged back together, everybody else went further on round the back of Blencathra.

No longer ill. HR fine since I got to work on Tuesday. I am reluctant to do anything that might upset it, like running.

After moping around for days I decided to set off for a walk round Leeds. Still got AF but I could keep up a brisk walk no problems. I didn't set off until 1:30pm so there wasn't much light left. I've been looking at a 6-trigs walk in north Leeds and did the first 3 here before running out of light and walking back on the roads.

Home - Scott Hall trig - through Gledhow and Roundhay Park - Woodhouse Farm (ring road) trig - Shadwell - Brandon Hill trig - Wyke - Emmerdale - Eccup - Adel, bus home. 14.7 miles, 3 hours 40.

The remaining trigs would have been Bowshaws, Stairfoot Lane and Tunnel How Hill which would be about 18 or 19 miles altogether.

Weather wasn't bad, a bit drizzly for a while but then cleared and the breeze got up. Very very muddy and wet underfoot. Got bitten by a dog in Roundhay Park, but it was my fault apparently for carrying a bag in my hand.

Walk - Barbondale - Bull Pot - Ease Gill Kirk, with the family. A bit of scrambling and exploring round Ease Gill, good fun. Not raining!

Walk, with Natasha and Janet. Oakdene - Sedbergh - Winder - Oakdene. Wet, very windy. Could barely stand up on top of the hill although it wasn't too bad at valley level.
