running 26:00 [3] 3.0 mi (8:40 / mi)
ahr:177

Stepping stones. Fairly steady and comfortable start, then just couldn't get up the first significant hill. Just managed to keep running after that, and a bit desperate at times.

running 21:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:24 / mi)

Oxley, steady. Heart rate all over the place again but still reasonably comfortable and not too slow.

running 30:00 [3] 3.3 mi (9:05 / mi)
ahr:162

Weetwood Lane, Lawnswood. A definite improvement, more or less steady HR although it went a bit more random towards the end, and a bit high. More comfortable all round, didn't finish feeling half dead.

Terrain running 32:00 [3] 2.0 mi (16:00 / mi)

Following Evie around the Orange at Skipwith. She didn't need any help from me and she ran too fast for me to keep up, on the paths at least.

orienteering 57:00 [4] 6.2 mi (9:12 / mi)

Brown course (middle distance) at Skipwith. Started steadily and didn't feel too bad. Lost a minute and a half at number 1 being vague, struggled between 7 and 8 in the thigh-deep marsh which sent my heart racing a bit. Lost a couple more minutes at 14, another minute at 17, by then I was really tired. Perked up a bit when I saw Dave Alcock and realised I must have overtaken him at some point.

1st place when I finished, but obviously not a very good run. Black (200m further) was won in 42.

running 25:00 [2] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Out through the park, got as far as Parkside Road before I decided I'd had enough. Straight back home at a jog.

Thursday Oct 18, 2012 #

running 45:00 [2] 4.3 mi (10:28 / mi)

Stainbeck and Stonegate. Not too bad for the first ten minutes but just got worse and worse. Heart wasn't particularly any worse than at the weekend but everything else felt shit. Stopped and walked for a bit at the top of King Lane, then forced a jog back down the hill.

running 59:55 [4] 7.0 mi (8:34 / mi) +200m 7:52 / mi

Butcher Hill, Newlay Bridge, Kirkstall Bridge. Heart rhythm still fairly random but felt much more comfortable running. A decent pace as far as Newlay, but struggling a bit along the towpath and it was very hard work up the hill to Carnegie.

Couldn't have gone any faster.

running 57:44 [3] 6.5 mi (8:53 / mi) +150m 8:17 / mi

Adel Crag. Still with a defective HR but I just wanted to do a proper run. My aim was to get under the hour. I managed but it was hard going at times. I was much better on the way back than the way out but I guess it is less hilly coming back.

running 22:30 [3] 2.5 mi (9:00 / mi)

Oxley. Awful.

running 30:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
ahr:165

Went for a run! Sort of. Stepping stones in the last of the light. Actually I felt ok. I stopped several times to take my pulse and it is much stronger than it was and lower than the HRM reading much of the time. I think this means I am still getting some random atrial beats (which the HRM picks up) but the ventricular beats are more regular than they were. I really need to run with an ECG machine.

Note

Walk - Tryfan, Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr, with Stanley. Lots of scrambling on Tryfan, straight up the north ridge without taking any of the easier options. Then we took the easy option on Glyder Fach and didn't do Bristly Ridge. Great weather - views for miles. We could see England. About 5 hours for 6 miles with 1000 metres of climb - 600m of it in the first kilometre.

The steeper climbs (where we could walk) were sending my heart haywire, but the actual scrambling I was fine. Just scared. A silly place to be doing a race.
