running 1:18:16 [3] 7.8 mi (10:02 / mi)

Dearncomb and Round Hill. Finding it easy to maintain a good pace on the flat and particularly downhill, just much more comfortable descending. Conked out a bit on the hill though. Time is a bit of a cheat because I had a break for a couple of minutes at the top.

running 43:13 [3] 4.4 mi (9:49 / mi)

Queenswood, Abbey, Beckett's Park. Nice easy start but my calves started to tighten up after a couple of miles. They weren't too bad though, and I put in a bit of a spurt through Beckett's to see how it felt. Not as bad as I was expecting.

Calves a bit sore now but I'll get over it.

Note

Last day of isolation. Couldn't be bothered to do anything tonight. Running tomorrow. Slow and steady I think.

barbell squats

alternative training 1:05:00 [3] 0.2 mi (5:24:52 / mi)

Started with a little jog up and down the stairs 20 times. 28 steps, 20cm per step makes it 112 metres of climb. Distance would be about 300 - 400 m I suppose, and all that took about 9 minutes. And knackered my calves. They were alright while I went up and down but as soon as I stopped both calves cramped up painfully and it took a little while to sort them out. I'm guessing that since I was barefoot I was always on my toes which puts a lot more strain on the calf, particularly coming down. Don't know why I'm not allowed to wear my trainers in the house.

Once my calves had settled down, 40 minutes of pilates followed by barbell squats from 15 x 10kg up to 1 x 27.5kg.

Let me out.

alternative training 55:00 [3]

More pilates. Different Youtube class. 40 minutes. And then some more weights, up to 25kg today. i think that's enough. Little bit sore from yesterday.

alternative training 40:00 [3]

20 minutes Pilates, slightly easier session this time. I could competently do most of it. Then squats with Evie's weights, doing progressively more weight and fewer squats from 7.5 kg up to 22.5kg.

alternative training 50:00 [3]

Felt a bit ill all yesterday and this morning. Got a test, came back negative. Maybe I imagined it all.

Feeling much better this evening so I did some more isolation exercise. 30 minutes pilates with a bit more competence than the first go. Little bit. 20 press ups because I felt like it. 20 ascents and descents of the house carrying 6 litres of water. That last one annoyed Tasha a bit.

Note

I am now self-isolating until 29th. Training will be a bit limited for a while.

conditioning 30:00 [3]

Dabbled with pilates, courtesy of Youtube. Difficulties.

Sunday Nov 15, 2020 #

running 1:19:54 [3] 7.8 mi (10:15 / mi)

Dearncomb and Round Hill, same as last Sunday but this time with sunshine and views. And lots wetter underfoot, and with a stiff breeze blowing from the south west. I had a target of 80 minutes so that it would at least be quicker than last week. Very hard work and only just made it.

Saturday Nov 14, 2020 #

running 1:31:03 [3] 8.5 mi (10:43 / mi)

Joining up little patches of woodland and paths through Cookridge and Holt Park. Sort of orienteering for some bits. A little bit. Very slow, just enjoying finding some new routes. Back down the valley from Stairfoot, very busy.

Friday Nov 13, 2020 #

running 29:32 [3] 2.7 mi (10:56 / mi)

Queenswood, nearly dark and right slow

Thursday Nov 12, 2020 #

running 48:13 [3] 5.6 mi (8:37 / mi)

Adel Church. Tired legs, having to work hard and struggling a bit on the way back.

Wednesday Nov 11, 2020 #

running 45:00 [3] 4.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

2 x parkside mile, 8:03, 7:58. Leaves on the line.

Tuesday Nov 10, 2020 #

running 48:01 [3] 5.3 mi (9:04 / mi)

Gledhow Park. Mostly steady but pushed a bit harder on the long climb up Potternewton Lane and the shorter climbs of Gledhow Lane and Monkbridge Road.

Sunday Nov 8, 2020 #

running 1:20:55 [3] 7.8 mi (10:22 / mi)

Sourby, Dearncomb, Round Hill, Lippersley Pike. Ponderous and squelchy, and visibility down to about 30m. Couldn't go any faster even when I tried. Did manage a faster mile at the end, once I was onto the solid and slightly downhill forest track.

Actually saw more people out on the moors than I have ever seen before - 6 walkers and one man on a bike. He was struggling.

Saturday Nov 7, 2020 #

running 1:35:30 [3] 9.8 mi (9:45 / mi)

Houghley Gill, Bramley Beacon, Bramley Fall, Butcher Hill. Steady. Lots of people on the towpath and in Bramley Fall.

Thursday Nov 5, 2020 #

running 1:02:00 [3] 6.4 mi (9:41 / mi)

Holt Park plod. Some fireworks.

Wednesday Nov 4, 2020 #

running 45:00 [3] 4.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

2 x Parkside mile. 8:08, 7:56. Both ways I was quick uphill and a bit off the pace downhill. Probably just because it is dark I think.

Tuesday Nov 3, 2020 #

running 52:49 [3] 5.8 mi (9:06 / mi)

Butcher Hill, Abbey, Kirkstall Hill, Headingley Hill. Couldn't get going at the start, gradually improved. First properly cold run of the autumn.
