Early morning on Farley Mount. Great views across to the Isle of Wight from the monument. Also very nice to get home at the end of the day and not go out in the dark.

Easy around Merdon Castle - Braishfield loop. Quads a bit sore but not too bad because had a massive stretch last night. Such a beautiful clear winter day. Feet pretty numb the whole way though.

The Sticker - Dorset 3 Peaks. Decided to start steady along the road which was a good idea then got into a nice rhythm up the first steep hill. A few too many people around though who kept stopping to walk in front of me so kept losing pace which was a bit annoying. Did not feel too fresh at this point. Felt better off the top of the hill and had warmed up more by the last two less steep hills. Bit of a different atmosphere to a fell race but still good fun. Finishing on the station platform was pretty cool too. Ended up 5th lady I think.

Early morning run at Farley Mount with James who was down in Winchester visiting relatives. Nice run, should do this more often. Calf fine running, but generally a bit sore throughout the day despite stretching and massage.

On the track this evening... 9 x 500m (3 sets of 3). 100m walk back recoveries and 5 minutes between sets which was way too long. Missed the start of the first so only did 400m. Felt tired before but better once running, did feel a bit short of breath though. 1.45-46 for every rep. Shattered after and legs a bit sore and tired.

SOC training at Acres Down. Made sure I had a plan for each leg before leaving each control and then trying not to unnecessarily look at the map. Worked well but was sloppy in the circle a few times from lack of a picture.

Hampshire League XC in Bournemouth. 54th. Apart from CC6 last weekend, this was my first XC for about 4 years. Wasn’t actually as bad as I anticipated and felt ok.

8 x 80 secs (2 sets of 4). Felt alright but seemed to be breathing faster than normal. Shortened session before Hampshire League on Saturday. Really enjoying these sessions, such a sociable group.

Had the day off :) so decided to go to Army o at Alice Holt. Bit of faff meant arrived later than planned but thought I’d have time for the blue course. Got completely confused looking for some path end in a load of grot at number 2. Map out of date and bracken too high but such nice weather. Course was taking longer then anticipated and had to get to a meeting in Southampton so had to abandon course a few controls before the end. Arrived in Southampton with 1 minute to spare so glad I left when I did!

CC6 in Whitely Woods. 4th. Nice undulating course with quite a bit of variety. Was in second for a while but felt pretty weak going up the hill and two people came past.

SOC event at Salisbury Trench (upper part of KGG). Should have had a better plan on some controls and too often just ran into the circle without knowing exactly what I was looking for. Think I got lucky a few times as pits just seemed to appear. Beautiful day for it, just need a couple of frosts to get the bracken down.

Tough session of 16 x 80 secs with 70 secs recovery. 2 sets of 8. Took it too easy on the first couple but quite consistent after that. Ate a bit soon beforehand which was a bad idea. Not flat out as biggest session I've done for a while and don't want to be feeling too bad this weekend. Still felt pretty tired after though.
