Running 1:06:23 [2]

Big group run in rivelin. First vest run of the year :) Legs feeling good again.

Wednesday Mar 29, 2017 #

Running 23:37 [2]

Feeling pretty knackered and heavy legs so cut back early.

Tuesday Mar 28, 2017 #

Cycling 45:00 [1]

Very easy Lodge Moor loop. Upper L arm (the crippled one) was a bit sore with the reach to the handlebars.

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [1]

Circuits - just some stretching and easy stuff. Quads a bit sore but not too bad.

Running 3:57:19 [3]

Edale Skyline.

So entered in mid February and got put on the waiting list... so didn't do any long runs. Then got an email last Tuesday saying I had a place! Been looking forward to it as have run all parts of the route lots of times just never the whole circuit at once... yet a bit apprehensive about crashing halfway round.

Started steady up to Ringing Roger and then settled into a nice pace and had a good rhythm up WinHill to the new checkpoint. Tbh not a massive fan of the new checkpoint down by ladybower.. recce'd a short cut through the woods on Tuesday but we were told in the pre-race briefing we had to go straight down, which I did along with everyone around me. But then running along the track people behind were cutting through the forest. Even they were questioning whether they were allowed. Really slow up WinHill from the bottom as there were so many people going slow and couldn't easily get past. Overtook loads of people up Lose Hill some of who questioned why I was running?..Because it's a fell race... Got to Mam Nick in 5th and stayed in the same position until the finish. Felt pretty good until 3 hours at east of Edale Cross then started feeling tired.. forced down more food and drink and was ok until the finish. The last hour felt a long way but then realised I could maybe get sub-4 hours when I was getting to Ringing Roger so tried to push on.

Would definitey do it again! Really enjoyed it apart from the 30 minutes after east of Edale Cross. The hills were definitely my strong point and it was good for morale to start slow and then overtake people. Got the food and drink right. Maybe in future should do some long runs first!

Running 54:02 [2]

In rivelin. Left foot arch aching a fair amount and worse after. Had this for over a year now.

Running 2:12:00 [2]

Fantastic morning out reccying the new section of the skyline, plus an extra run along the lose hill ridge. Cutting through Hope Woodlands to the main track from the top checkpoint definitely quickest. Really nice grassy runnable woodland, hopefully one day will be used for orienteering again. I know I am going to massively struggle on Sunday but ah well, hopefully the weather will be good.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [1]

Orienteering 31:07 [3]

BUCS relay at Hugset. Feeling pretty knackered off so little sleep. Set off in 5th and passed Cambridge and Bristol pretty early then just made sure I didn't miss any controls as the Edinburgh teams set off a fair way ahead. Then saw Fay at number 8 and 2nd became a possibility. Managed to get away at the end when Fay missed the penultimate control. Kind of thankful it wasn't a sprint finish.

Good team atmosphere this weekend and some promising runs from some newer members.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Jog to the start.

Orienteering 57:01 [4]

BUCS at Wharncliffe. Nice course and enjoyed it but pretty bad run. Lost 1 minute on 4 as too high, 1 minute on 7 as too high and 2.30 minutes on 8 as just fumbled around in the rocks whilst on my way and somehow found the control by luck. Zoe then caught me up and I knackered myself trying to keep up before falling over on the run in. Possibly my last BUCS and definitely the worst result but it was a pretty good field this year.

Running 11:00 [2]

Run to get some megaphone batteries.

Thursday Mar 16, 2017 #

Running 14:21 [2]

Stressed and in need of fresh air. Runny nose and eyes watering all day which was grim.

Wednesday Mar 15, 2017 #

Note

Department walk. Such nice weather!

Tuesday Mar 14, 2017 #

Running 32:26 [2]

Bottom of left foot very tight. Need to get it sorted before Edale Skyline.

Orienteering 57:59 [3]

TTDP Urban Nights Fat Cat O. Proper Night O as I forgot to charge my headlamp and it died 1/3 of the way round. Didn't get lost in any multistorey carparks this year but a few dodgy routechoices, especially when there were no streetlamps around and I couldn't read the map. Generally just very slow, can't run fast atm but ah well. Good fun.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]

ShUOC training. Hanging toilet roll on Longshaw for the others to find. Good fun. Was on autopilot as know the area quite well then at the end in the lumpy bumpy bit around Lawrencefield forgot to think!

Running 1:06:40 [2]

Run home with Edward.

Friday Mar 10, 2017 #

Running 50:00 [2]

Same as last Friday morning. Summited into cloud.

Running 25:00 [2]

Running 41:23 [2]

Soaking up the sun in rivelin.

Wednesday Mar 8, 2017 #

Running 1:04:00 [2]

Chilled run on Burbage and Longshaw with Abi, Dave, James and Pete. Such a nice evening.

Tuesday Mar 7, 2017 #

Running warm up/down 16:00 [2]

Running intervals 17:00 [4]

ShUOC intervals.. feeling a bit of a cold coming on. Not too surprising considering the amount of sleep I've had recently. 3 x (30, 30, 3 min, 30, 30) (missed the first 2 30s) then 30, 2min, 30. The run to the field felt the same pace as the actual intervals.

Sunday Mar 5, 2017 #

Running 57:27 [2]

Was planning to recce the new section of the skyline but weather grim and woke up at 1pm post HPM poptarts. Not really surprising considering I had 3 hours sleep in 45 hours, although nothing compared to the USMC HPM teams who got less sleep and also ran 42 miles! Just went round rivelin instead. The rain on my face was very nicely refreshing.

Friday Mar 3, 2017 #

Running 50:00 [2]

Run into work from Yorkshire Bridge. Straight up Parkin Clough and WinHill then down via Twitchill. Achilles too tight to run up anything more than a gentle incline.

Running 23:10 [2]

Over the ridge to Edale to help out at HPM. Awesome night, normally when helping at this sort of thing just want to be running it but didn't have that desire this year!

Thursday Mar 2, 2017 #

Running 54:22 [2]

Up to Forge Dam and back via hunters bar with Megan. Lower legs (particularly right ankle) feeling very tight. Need a good stretch. Brought the sunshine back to Britain though :)

My splitsbrowser graphs from last week are all very straight except one control on each the sprint and WR middle. Running speed is obviously my weakness.
