Orienteering race 48:47 [4] 5.95 km (8:12 / km) +59m 7:49 / km
weight:108.5kg shoes: LASportiva mountain

Blue course at Heriot Watt SoSOL (INT). Bit dissapointing that despite pre-entering and arriving at start 30min before last start, still managed to end up with no loose control description and a pre-used map. Not a huge issue but certainly used up a few precious seconds unfolding the map for CDs and had a few instances of hit and hope where the map had been folded by its previous owner and was faded beyond legibility.

All the same, still a very enjoyable race. Fast paced with no chance of a rest either mentally or physically. Some good route choices and nice to have a change of scene for a SoSOL too.

Managed a bit of a comedy trip when becoming tangled in the cunningly placed trip wire (string course) on the way to 1st control too.

Didnt realise map was ISSOM until on the way to control 7 - and subequently had to reassure myself that I hadnt gone through an uncrossable hedge at 6 (wonder with hindsight if this could have been in the final details?)

Distance travelled 7.35k

Edited to add - Winsplits looks like I lost about 40s by taking the longer way round to 3rd last control. Should have gone down to lower path which was more direct.
