Orienteering race (Mt. Tom Green X Day 1) 1:09:11 [4] 5.1 km (13:34 / km)
shoes: Oroc 280

Warm sunny spring day. Doesn't get much better.

Regarding the course, leg 5 to 6, Phil, what were you smoking? But can't blame Phil for missing 6 right, blowing 7, and a completely brain dead route to 9. Shame on me.

For dinner met up with Glen & Janet and posse. Ten of us in all at the Northampton Brewery. Very fine company. Challenged Glen to finish tomorrow before my start. Challenge accepted.

Walk/Hike (Holyoke Elks 5K) 29:54 [3] 5.0 km (5:59 / km)
shoes: Pro Grid 6 pair 2

Windy but otherwise fine evening. Knew legs would still be wasted from West Point, so thought 30 minutes would be a decent goal. Made it. Just.

Next up Mt. Tom. I'm sure it will be nice and flat ...

Orienteering race (West Point Green Y Day 2) 1:17:32 [4] 5.6 km (13:51 / km)
shoes: Oroc 280

Perfect O day, bright sunny warm but not hot. Maybe Spring is finally come.

Started with very little energy, and the blue berries quickly sucked that out. Probably walked 75% of the course but no notable nav mistakes today. Just lots of hesitation, and some suboptimal routes.

On the long leg, first went back to the start, then down the rocky reentrant to the big trail just south of the water stop. Took the trail all the way past the big swamp to the bare rock corridor .. but that wasn't the plan. I simply missed the trail junction past the stream.

From 5 to 6 went via 8. From 8 to the tunnel, took the swamp. I'll need to wash out the shoes.

Fun times. Glad I went. And that's not even counting that I beat Phil ... ;).
