3-4" of fresh powder. then it changed to more of a freezing rain / sleet mix - good conditions to go out and just bang around in the woods.
Checked out some of the ski--O trails - blowdowns will mean some of them won't be usable for next weekend. On others, need quite a bit more snow to make them usable without tearing up equipment.
Will have to see what later in the week brings.

Mapping 2:53:01 [3] 6.07 km (28:29 / km) +75m 26:50 / km

Mix of mapping and ski-O trail maintenance (on the off-chance that there's sufficient snow for next weekend's event). Had clippers and a saw with me, both of which I used.
Saw a few short sections that would have been ski-able, but most of the trails were a ribbon of ice. Plenty of bare ground and muddy sections, with water running down all the gullies.

Weeks Woods - had a map and compass with me - still tough to follow / find some of the trails when the treadway is under a smooth covering of snow. Finally recognized the trail I'd wanted to come up from the NE corner of the map, so took it down and reversed that part of my planned loop. Narrow trails with wet and bowed over hemlocks and deeper soft snow in the more sheltered areas - kept moving enough that running in a cold rain didn't bother me that much.
A good adventure.

Headlamp run at RV Farm - warm spell is winding down. Things cooled down enough that the dusting of snow we got today stuck around - just enough to cover the icy spots out on the trails. A few folks had been out - could see where they'd been slipping.
Just enough pep for a short jaunt - hit a couple of hills harder to get my heart rate up, which worked and got my breathing a bit labored as well.
Glad I got out to get the blood flowing - too many days in a row of not doing it and it's harder to get going again.
