HIKE (Rae Lakes Backpacking) 2:39:51 [3] 5.85 mi (27:19 / mi) +1321ft 22:31 / mi
shoes: montrail massochist

Packed up and left camp @ 9am to hike over Kearsage pass to get out. The sky cleared up and it was super sunny, not a single cloud in the sky. Visibility was wide and open. The view was magnificent. We made it back to the car 30min sooner than we thought. I put weight on left leg and it felt fine.

HIKE (Rae Lakes Backpacking) 5:00:14 [3] 7.08 mi (42:24 / mi) +2442ft 31:58 / mi
shoes: brooks purecadence '12

Packed up camp at Rae Lakes. Hiked over Glenn Pass (again) to reach Kearsage Lakes for camp. It was a bit trial since I had to keep the left leg straight and put most of the weight on right leg. Wished I had brought the hiking poles. Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20. It rained on and off soon after we set up camp. We were then rewarded with an amazing rainbow.

HIKE (Rae Lakes Backpacking) 5:49:07 [3] 7.59 mi (46:00 / mi) +2213ft 36:03 / mi
shoes: montrail massochist

Packed up camp, hiked over Glen Pass (12000') to Rae Lakes (10500') to spend the night. Tripped and fell on the way down Glen Pass, which caused a punctured wound on left knee, about 1" deep & 2" wide. We were mostly above tree line and it felt like walking on the moon. The view was spectacular. It rained and hailed on and off, but not when we were hiking.

shoes: montrail massochist

started our Kings Canyon National Park backpacking trip from onion valley (~9000' elevation) and hiked over Kearsage Pass @ 12000' to reach Kearsage Lakes for first night camp (10500'). Didn't sleep well, had altitude sickness. Advil and lots of water did the trick.
