SNOWBOARD (mammoth) 3:00:00 [3]

the crowd thinned out even more today but the snow condition was not as good as yesterday. most of the slopes were groomed, which made for very fast runs but nothing to write home about. we headed out to the west side of the mountain, i.e. chair 8, 25, 9, and eagle lodge. 9 had the best snow where it was still choppy and soft at the top so we hung out there for most of the day.

HIKE (mojave - red rock canyon) 1:15:00 [3] 3.0 mi (25:00 / mi)

on the way home, we stopped by Red Rock Canyon off the 14 for a discovery hike.





mental note, we have to come back here and dirt bike at Dove Springs.

SNOWBOARD (mammoth) 4:30:00 [3]

we had an unbelievable day on the slopes, and in april too! couldn't believe it. what made it so amazing?

1. no wind, absolutely none, w/ temperature just below freezing
2. 14"-20" of fluffy new snow, the dry kind you usually get in UT, not typical for MM
3. no crowd, no lines, which was a miracle in itself

we snowboarded hard right from the start. took off from canyon lodge, up canyon express , then 22, onto 5 (upper and lower dry creek), back down to main lodge, caught gondola to the top, cornice, then 23 for scotty and the chutes between cornice and scotty (forgot their names), continued on to the 14 down the backside. i was bonking 4 hours later, got clumsy, and fell for no reason while we snowboarded through some trees to get back to main lodge for lunch. so glad we made it up here for the weekend.

after lunch, we headed off to Hot Creek for a little hike and to check out if it was still closed off to swimming (and it was). had so much fun goofing off with G.

upper body workout with weights. needed to do some core exercises but didn't have time b4 spin.

went to backbay for this run but it was wwaayyyy too windy. opted to run on the treadie instead. legs felt really good, absolutely no shin splints, not even during warm up! kept it steady and tried to keep HR down. time flew by while watching ellen degeneres show on tv.
