SNOWBOARD (mammoth) 2:30:00 [3]

boarded for a couple of hours before we headed home. snow was super wet, choppy and slow. got knocked over trying to get off chair 8 lift. snowboard stopped dead and would not slide. hadn't waxed the board since last season. had to go down to canyon and got the board waxed. thought the day was shot but it took only 15min.

had lunch at imperial in bishop. it started to snow on the 395, all the way down the 14 at 2000ft elevation! have never seen this before in all the years snowboarding (10 years or more?) parking lot traffic on the 14. it took us over 9 hours to get home.

five simple rules for happiness:
1. free your heart from hatred
2. free your mind from worries
3. live simply
4. give more
5. expect less

woke up in the middle of the night and could not get back to sleep for more than an hour, felt guilty about work. decided to ditch snowboarding this morning and worked instead. it was hard at first watching everybody getting ready for the slopes. in the end, glad i worked, got it all DONE by early afternoon. took walk from condo near village to old mammoth road and main intersection. was going to catch the bus back but luckily ran into mo and doug.

SNOWBOARD (mammoth) 5:00:00 [3]

weather was cold and calm. we got to the lifts around the 10am and it was a mob scene. the lines were super long. i put on my patience hat and wore it all day. the snow was amazing, wet and heavy, nothing like the vail powder, but still awesome. got stuck in deep snow on the first ride, took ages to get down, and lost everybody. had to call G and the 2 of us hooked up for the rest of the day. calves and ankles were worked. snow was choppy, bumping, and slow. we stuck mostly with chairs 4, 22, 25, and 9. the top was not opened. time included lines and lift rides.

Note

drove 7 hours to get to mammoth. ran into traffic around L.A and then a blizzard starting from Bishop. signs said 395 was closed 13 miles pass Bishop but we kept going anyway. we got lucky, a police car escorted us (and a long line of cars) up the mountain. low visibility made for an exciting drive. half of our crew was already at the condo and mo and doug were not far behind. what a fun group, it's going to be an awesome few days!

Note

wanted to do a quick run on the treadie but didn't have enough time. had breakfast with the guptas, said our goodbyes then headed to the airport. wasted time standing in line to check in at the wrong airline counter but we still made our flights. spent most of the day traveling.
