BACKPACKING (mammoth / minaret) 4:00:00 [3] 7.31 mi (32:50 / mi) +400ft 31:13 / mi

sunday's hike out (from ediza lake to agnew meadows) was AMAZING and almost entirely downhill. the scenery got better and better as we went. the only challenge was at the start, when we had to scramble through a very rocky section with lots of boulders, to get out of ediza lake. that took about 30min.

BACKPACKING (mammoth / minaret) 4:30:00 [3] 7.1 mi (38:02 / mi) +1145ft 32:59 / mi

we got on the JMT at 8ish, hiked from thousand island lake to ediza lake, passing emerald and ruby lakes on the way. what a beautiful hike, we stopped plenty for photo ops. ediza lake was at lower elevation and had more than its fair share of mosquito. maureen chose a campsite right next to another, shaded by lots of trees, near a waterfall but somewhat far from the lake itself. i wasn't too thrill about where we camped, but oh well, all was good.

HIKE 1:00:00 [3]

G & I set out for a day hike, climbed the waterfall, and explored the nearby streams for about an hour. after dinner, i quickly hid inside our tent to get away from the mosquito. luckily, G remembered to bring a deck of cards, we played until we were blue in the face.

BACKPACKING (mammoth / minaret) 4:00:00 [3] 8.1 mi (29:38 / mi) +1830ft 24:24 / mi

G and I arrived at mammoth late thursday night. ran into naomi & ivan near big pine. met up with the rest of the gang (maureen, maria, & tony) at main lodge early friday morning to catch the shuttle to agnew meadows. andy dropped out at the last minute due to work. my pack weighed only 23lbs. G's was closer to 30lbs. we set out from agnew meadows (8300ft) and hiked to thousand island lake (9850ft). we could not have asked for a more gorgeous day. had a big bagel for breakfast but did not eat anything else until lunch at 1pm. that was not a good idea, felt faded around noon. we got to the campsite soon after lunch. thousand island lake was well worth the hike, crystal clear water, and semi warm too! we chose a campsite on top of some boulders, perfect panoramic view of the entire lake.

note: time recorded did not include breaks and lunch.

RUN (24hr metro) 20:00 [3] 2.2 mi (9:05 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:105lbs shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra

got on the treadmill for a quick tempo run. warmed up at 6.5mph for the first 10min, then increased pace to 6.8mph for 3 min intervals until time was up. felt tired.

CYCLING/SPIN (24hr metro) 1:00:00 [3] 15.0 mi (15.0 mph)

i think i was dehydrated during the run. drank an entire bottle of water after getting off the treadmill and felt so much better. it was really good to spin out the legs.
