hiked up and down manker flats with maria and G. maureen had to pull out at the last minute due to foot injury. did not do the loop via devil's backbone. elevation gain averaged at 1000 feet per mile. it was steep. we started from 6K and climbed to 10K ft. i thought the heat would be unbearable but the day turned out to be just fine. we even got cool breezes at the top. this was our first training hike for the thousand island lake backpacking trip in august.

missed masters this morning on purpose. today was supposed to be all butterfly and i, well, most shameful to admit, am horrible at it, so i was hiding. i know i should work at it and not "hide". so, next time, i'll go. promise to self.

went to the pool an hour after masters to make sure no one saw me. uh, living the life of a liar!

tried to keep the pace sub 9min/mile for 2 miles. walked ~2min after run to cool down. ran at 6.7mph or 8.57min/mile.

took a while to warm up, was sluggish for the first 20min or so. once heart rate is up, felt great. legs were light. worked on intervals today.
