stretched and worked on upper body strength, biceps, triceps, shoulders, chest, and abs.

was not feeling it in the pool today. the zoomers worned out skin on both top and back of right foot, so painful at times, had to stop mid swim to adjust. stuck it out and did the usual laps.

went to peters with G. felt at ease for the first 3 miles, but starting mile 4, dehydration begun. arghhh! need to figure out a way to bring water during run without it being a nuisance.

yes, i was a complete dork for waking up at 4am to go stand in line at REI, our first time and probably last, especially on the first day of spring no less. ran into stacy & dave but they weren't as nerdy as us and arrived around 8ish. guess it was worth it b/c we got some mighty kool stuff for next to nothing, well ok, a little something. the day was pretty much shot from then on. we didn't get out of REI until almost noon, grabbed a bite with s&d, went to look at some bikes @ surf city grand opening, then prep and host dinner party... and there went the day {sigh}.

good deep sleep, first one in at least a week, still tired though, could use another hour or 2 in bed. contemplated going to masters. decided to stick it out and "just do it".

coach had an emergency and couldn't make it. needed an EZ swim and my wish came true! shared a lane with G, no fins or paddles today, self propelled with them arms and legs. took it easy, stopped when i needed to, didn't count laps, just revelled at being in the pool. loved watching the steam rising out of the water in early morning light, at times so thick i couldn't see the other end of the pool.

brought hr monitor to spin for the first time. was curious to see what kind of workout i have been doing. surprised to find that max hr was over 155 and even 160 for that matter. felt tired today. right knee was uncomfortable the entire time. maybe recent run on pavement aggravated it?

did some quick research on the internet, should aim at avg hr of 154bpm. need to bring it up a notch.

drove m&d to airport early this morning, came home before sunrise. bittersweet, felt sad to see them go but looked forward to normalcy. needed to catch up on EVERYTHING, was feeling way behind.

worked for a few hours and then headed to the gym. did a warm up run on the treadmill before swim. it felt so good to run again.

was happy to see 2 lanes wide open!! jumped in one and started warm up with 4x50 kickboard. continued on with 28x50 of variations, some drills and some with fins. half way thru swim, shared lane with another swimmer, good one too, very inspirational.

went on a mellow social ride with the gang (lois, ivan, cynthia, and greg) after work. started from ridge park entrance. it was ccooolllddd on top of the ridge but got warmer in the canyon. could see massive dark clouds moving in fast from the coastline. made frequent stops, chatted up a storm. good times. dinner @ sharky's after.

felt elated when realized that i finally got my stroke right (Kerry stopped correcting). it helped to concentrate on one thing to fix at a time. the last 100's felt natural and relaxed. stayed after a few minutes to cool down.

4x50 - warm up w/ kickboard, 14x50 - drills, 5x100 - w/ fins, 2x50 - cool down w/ fins.

went for a quick jaunt around the neighborhood after work to test the F405. love the new gadget! took about 5min to warm up them legs. kept it steady. what a beautiful day, felt like summer!
