MOUNTAIN BIKING 4:07:00 [3] 23.35 mi (5.7 mph) +3315ft
slept:8.0 weight:105lbs shoes: santa cruz blur

fun ride with G looping thru 3 parks; aliso, laguna wilderness, and el moro. what a great day, perfect weather. started out at aliso, quite crowded, lots of hikers, then straight thru laguna wilderness (despised crossing 133!), and onto el moro. did a fairly wide loop at el moro and came back same route to aliso but rode down rockets instead. quite eventful day, right inner thigh started to cramp while riding up pavement to stair steps (coming from laguna wilderness), had to resort to torquing with left leg. saw a snake swallowing another snake at stair steps. G almost ran into a dog at aliso and had to brake sharply, me right behind him doing the same thing. nutrition included 5 hr energy, 2 gu's, and a banana. now, time for a hot shower and a good book.

SWIM (masters @ the Y) 1:15:00 [3]
slept:8.0

learned the fly today, it wasn't pretty. never felt the brain so completely disconnected from the body before. hope chlorine water is good for you, drank about a gallon of it. as bad as it sounds, it only made me want to stay in the pool longer to get it right. note to self, let's make time for more swimming this weekend.

RUN (24 metro) 30:00 [3] 3.1 mi (9:41 / mi)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra

ran on treadmill. felt like a deer, long and slow strides. breathing was effortless.

CYCLING/SPIN (24 metro) 1:00:00 [3] 18.0 mi (18.0 mph)

started with warm up, then short intervals, big climb, short intervals, and quick cool down. right knee was a little uncomfortable near the end, otherwise, felt strong, good cadence, and quick recovery. wonder what HR was. need to bring garmin next time. totally guessing on mileage also.

note: tried to do a 2nd run session after spin but legs felt like lead. after a few min, canned the run. need to save the legs for tomorrow ride.

STRENGTH 20:00 [1]

the usual upper body workout, concentrating on triceps as Kerry said it was necessary for good butterfly. need all the help i can get.

Note
slept:8.0

caught up on sleep.
couldn't make it to masters this morning. very disappointed, i really wanna go. did i say i really really wanna go? i really really do. ok, get over it.

RUN 1:00:00 [3] 5.88 mi (10:12 / mi) +650ft 9:14 / mi
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra

busy working and didn't drink anything but a cup of coffee all day. rushed out the door and forgot to bring water for the run @ peters. what a mess. the first half of the run was ok. the latter half was excruciating. legs felt like jello. breathing was labored. felt dehydrated, had to struggle to finish, definitely mind over matter. ran the front (rolling hills side) to the end and back, including big red. i'm totally guessing on elevation.

slept:4.0

not much sleep last night, stayed up late working, but felt well rested this morning. the plan for the day is to do an easy pace run and work on upper body strength @ the gym during lunch. after work, meet up with G to ride to old camp.

STRENGTH (24 metro) 30:00 [1]

did 150 crunches, 3 sets of curls, 3 sets of triceps presses, and some shoulder workout. didn't have time to run as planned, too much work!

MOUNTAIN BIKING (old camp) 1:45:00 [3] 9.57 mi (5.5 mph) +1736ft
shoes: santa cruz blur

the plan was to ride to old camp from cooks with G and J but jim didn't bring lights. we rode up pass the flag for about a mile or 2 then turned around and went down the luge before it got dark. kept pace steady and stayed in middle chain ring during climb. breathing was really good and legs were strong. felt like there was a lot of energy left after the ride. should have pushed it more.
