Drive to Caerleon (which is a lot harder now they've finally started repairing the collapsed bit of the main road) to get the remaining 4 squares in this part of Newport. Waited for weather to get a bit better, and mostly was ok with little wind, but rained a lot in the middle.

From amphitheatre up Lodge Hill, and then across the river to an overbridge across the road by the golf course, and ticked off a couple of streets on the way back through the town. Noted that the public footpaths through Celtic Manor are all very overgrown. Did a bit of grass to shorten the distance out/back and it was slippery - these shoes really don't have much rubber left on them so was expecting worse.

Looking at amphitheatre and barracks after the run, realise that there is a lot to Newport so whilst not what I would *choose*, a county limits travel restriction isn't the end of the world - and in a lot of ways far better than the previous 5 mile/stay at home rules.

Running a bit earlier than I would have liked to beat the rain, but still quite windy.

On the levels from Nash to Goldcliff, Whitson and Broadstreet. Having been surprised at how well the shoes were still gripping yesterday, was slipping a bit where the grit has sunk into the tar, with everything being wet.

Pace ended up a lot faster than I intended, even into the wind, and wasn't really enjoying the running towards the end. Head not in it so stopped at 10k and walked the last 600m or so back to the car. Probably a good thing as needed a bit of cool down before driving back.

Not an exciting run but probably will be back here next weekend as it's another 1 hr run challenge and this may be less tedious than the riverfront with kerbs and corners.

Weather a bit crap so didn't really want to go out, but once moving it wasn't so bad. Wore a t shirt that wouldn't hold water so wasn't uncomfortably wet or heavy.

Didn't want to be out too long but seems that meant I started out quite fast - first k in under 4:20 so fastest in several months. Kept the pace quite quick for the swim down Bassaleg Road but once onto Risca Road was head on into the wind so reduced the effort a little as I didn't plan to be doing a hard run. 3rd fastest time on this route despite the slowing.

200th consecutive day of activity now done.

Planned on a canal loop today but left it a bit late so was short of daylight. Meant this turned into much more of a tempo run than intended - although had plenty of reserve in the tank apart from the two stages of ups and the last chunk of Risca Road.

Beat the dark but the U up from the canal is a bit washed out so would like it to have been a bit lighter.

Shoes are still going despite lacking a lot of rubber. Still another 60k to go to equal the last pair.

Didn't really feel like trying any efforts so a steady run. Also tried to avoid too much downhill towards the end so mixed things up a bit by doing an out and back on the cycle path.

Took a while to get myself out the door today. Very close to day 200 now so the novelty is wearing off a bit.

Settled on Gaer as may be the last dry day for some time, and as I started thought of going around the park on the way - so had to do a bit of looping around to bring the distance up. On leaving the park on a whim had a go at the dodgy segment up Waterloo Road - 7s off the record but my time is based on gate-to-gate which is at least 20m longer than the leader, so quite close. Yesterday's run was a good 70m more than the leader, with an extra 5+m climb, hence I was over 30s off!

Onto Gaer and around the bottom to make the overall distance a smidge over 5 miles. Would have turned up a bit sooner but only 2 of the fire breaks are still clear. Last whim decision was to come around the back of the cemetary rather than Melfort - but had a long wait to cross the main road not helped by a big van being parked right on the crossing making visibility nil.

Easy run from home as didn't really feel like anything more. Golden Mile and Tredegar Park. Feeling comfortable along Cardiff Road so after crossing railway decided to put a bit of effort in up the hill and see how I'm doing for speed after months of no speedwork or rest - turns out I've still got some.
