Walking 2:30:00 [3] 2.0 km (1:15:00 / km) +200m 50:00 / km
slept:4.5 (injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 19

Brecon Beacons fell race. Was supposed to be marshalling Pen y Fan but dropped out yesterday- unfortunately another marshal didn't turn up so I had to be roped in to cover the boggy hill after Torpantau.

Ankle quite swollen but survived walk up and down in mud in unsuitable shoes. Suppose that's a positive.

Weather was on and off rain and pretty windy throughout. Wore 4 layers, hat, gloves and 2 buffs.

Running (Newport Parkrun) 9:30 [3] 2.14 km (4:26 / km) +10m 4:20 / km
slept:4.0 (injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 19

Despite legs feeling tired, felt reasonably strong today and started fast. Unfortunately the dickheads who start at the front yet start slowly were out in force again so I was forced onto right hand edge. Within about 50 yards one veered right into me and pushed me off the path and straight into a post-hole. Game over.

Got myself back up and knew ankle was sprained. Tried carrying on before the adrenaline wore off but once on left turns and gentle ascent was no way I could continue.

Some sympathy from the people behind but nothing at all from whoever it was that took me out. Rather pissed off.

MDC hills on tour at the Big Dipper. 3x Big Dipper, 2x the back side of it.

Not going too well - should be shown by the high heart rate, so for efforts 3 and 4 just started a bit later and stuck behind Ben (although attacked by a dog on 4th). Taking much smaller strides on final one - and it worked much better, but was following Marcus and we went the wrong way; ended up in some deep sand and couldn't keep the cadence up.

Saw 2 real live trolls under the suspension bridge - both wearing all black. Thought they might be goth-trolls but one had blond hair.

Running the Magical Forest Walk with Ben. In terms of weather, more "miserable" than "magical" - pretty wet. In hindsight wearing T-shirts probably a mistake.

For being an actual walk with sign posts, was surprisingly hard to follow and the 1:10,000 map in the booklet wasn't very helpful. But some of the detours we took were improvements.

What we saw of the woods was mostly crap, but a few nice bits. Didn't see anybody else out today.

MDC run from Sirhowy Country Park. Rivalling Sunday for amount of fight through undergrowth - got thwacked in face by a big bramble early on and was picking thorns out of my cheek the rest of the way.

Legs not up to much today so please was relatively slow pace. Dave and I got dropped early on as we went off into the bushes together. Later he was complaining of a sore and bleeding bum - fortunate that nobody attempted to link these together...

Chilli in pub still good, but some of the other meals didn't look bad either. Left before the rest to water Mark's greenhouse in the dark.
