Trail race race (Chichester parkrun) 21:51 [5] 5.0 km (4:22 / km) +50m 4:10 / km

Would I feel any better? To begin with, no. But I was much happier and stronger on the second and third laps than usual. Wasn't 'dying'. Water and mud made time comparisons impossible. Tried to go with IB to see if I had improved, but he is in v good nick at the mo and I shouldn't worry about the gap he got. Took a few scalps so feeling mostly positive after today. Importantly, enjoyed it. And felt fine after too. Keep on doing what I'm doing.
1 PM

Walk (Eartham and Glatting Beac) 3:00:00 [3] 14.0 km (12:51 / km) +150m 12:12 / km

Eartham, Little Down, Great Down, Glatting Beacon loop, Stane Street, Eartham. Wondered if I might see Lu; was a day early.

Walk (Amberley and Findon) 6:30:00 [3] 15.0 mi (26:00 / mi) +500m 23:34 / mi

With Jan. High Titten, The Burgh, Wepham Down, Lee Farm, Michelgrove, Monarchs Way, Findon, then SDW via Kithurst Hill and Amberley Mount. Some good new paths. Sandwich and pint at The Gun. Very enjoyable.

Note

Last two days of term way too wet to ride. December score bike 9 car 4 anyway. Annual mileage 2805, up 66% on last year. That's 1,115 miles of dedicated Velo South and Wiggle training. And almost 1700 miles of commuting.
6 PM

Road run (Chichester Trio) 1:18:51 [5] 11.0 mi (7:10 / mi) +45m 7:05 / mi
weight:70kg shoes: saucony swerve

Breakthrough. 11 road miles at parkrun pace. In a monster hail storm. Hips and legs totally niggle-free, but will need to be very careful now with lower left back. Was all trepidation and anxiety ahead of this, 10 days since last run, and thought I might be so slow I'd get cold. Actually felt marvellous as soon as I started to run and like I could have blitzed a single lap. And then, apart from tiring arms and shoulders, float-y feeling mostly persisted through Terminus Road and second Summersdale lap. Such joy! This is what I've been missing for two years. The longer easier runs have been the answer, somehow sorting out my posture. I've definitely been feeling much looser down there since I did the 8 miles.
