Orienteering race (Broadstone Warren Middles) 55:31 [4] *** 6.1 km (9:06 / km) +240m 7:36 / km
spiked:18/23c weight:69kg

Great area, great map, well-planned courses, and the sun even came out near the end. Just wish I could have kept it together for last six controls. Wasn't running that fast, mostly because of the slippy conditions, but there was some fatigue from yesterday evening. Was finding the nav OK, though, and getting on fine, till Keith passed me at 11 and I decided I should be pushing harder. I missed 12 by a bit and was careless near 15, then got well stuck trying to cross the stream at 16. Jack caught me here and was moving faster still so that encouraged me to push more. Consequently I was too high for 18 and lost about 2 mins here, then made a Horlicks of 20, getting two paths confused so looking for the gully in all the wrong places. Eventually, after almost 3 mins, relocated on the rhoddies. Not that bothered really, as yesterday's run seems more important at the mo.

Road run (Summersdale and South St) 30:13 [5] 8.0 km (3:47 / km)

Totally smashed it! Stopped watch for bottom end of North Street because of Christmas Fair, but added 30 seconds for that bit. As I would probably have been under 17 secs if I had been running, that is the long-awaited sub-30. Just felt like I could sprint the whole way round.

Hardcore. Not helped by battery dying on the way home.
