Tried walking fast and running little (16.7% by pace). Certainly helps. Still can't get past the 4th mile. 80 seconds ahead of 15 @ 3 miles - walked in last mile. Sweathog.

Must admit, I don't seem to be able to workout every day - even when varying workouts (gym/hike, etc.). So here's something that makes old bones feel good and certainly should not limit tomorrow.
