orienteering 1:41:10 [3] 4.6 km (22:00 / km) +150m 18:55 / km
weight:169.6lbs shoes: JALAS

Same deal at the start as the day previous. Same good time talking to folks, same people needing start time changes. I really screwed up two early controls (3 & 4 - In fact, I relocated to #2 on the way to #4!). Whenever I followed my compass and paced, I was fine; but often when I attempted to use a trail, I couldn't find it. Somehow better energy level. Maybe I'll have a few splits that were OK, even though the total run was poor. I'm not sure if standing around at the start for 3 - 4 hours is detrimental to my performances, but somehow I think not.

orienteering 1:11:57 [3] 4.3 km (16:44 / km) +100m 14:59 / km
weight:169.2lbs shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

Worked at the start and ran late-ish at DVOA's Fall O-Fest. I enjoyed much of that effort - got to put faces to names and catch up with people I rarely see. I still believe that orienteers would make the very best group to populate our next planet. It seemed to me that an inordinate number of people missed starts, wanted earlier or later starts, wanted to change courses or somehow confuse us. We accommodated almost everyone, I think. The preponderance of folks needing attention seemed to have unpronounceable first and last names, spoke English as a second language and had the expectation that we would cater to them. My orienteering was mediocre, and I blew a control that was near the campground, losing about 8 minutes there. I was unable to sort out the multitude of parking spots for campers. Very poor energy level - convincing myself of Lyme disease (I've the tick bites) or something or other. Beautiful day in the woods, courses terrific, climb minimized, DVOA shining.

Map & Compass work 2:00:00 [3]
weight:170lbs shoes: Salomon XR Mission - orange

At Ridley, finishing all streamers and adjustment. Good thing, I checked climb on Brown (6.7%) - no worries - radically revised.

One problem with Condes. I can't figure out how to get the text descriptions to print for the White, Yellow and Orange courses. I can find the Condes generated texts - they look good - but I don't know how to include them in the printed clues. Anyone help?
