I hope there will eventually there will be results somewhere from Saturday & Sunday’s Birkhead Wilderness Classic Championships – and that someone knowledgeable will add them to my Training Log for me; because I am unable to remember anything much about the event due to the horror of driving I-95 from Petersburg VA to near-Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon-evening: what on earth are some drivers thinking – that they are in a video game and if they crash they will simply start over – and I mean this seriously - when the speed limit is 65mph and I’m clocking 70 or 75 and am passed by folks going over 100, AND they change lanes unpredictably, AND most have tinted windows, AND they all tailgate, AND they do not use turn-signals, AND they race each other, AND there are never highway patrol cars around when this happens – well, I am fairly certain that the most courageous or insane folks from pre-I-95 history (Ghandi, Winston Churchill, Amelia Earhart, Davy Crockett, George Washington, Joan of Arc, Attila the Hun, Rasputin, Robin Hood) or even from fiction (Marshal Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke, Heathcliff, Captain Jack Aubrey, Atticus Finch, Jean Valjean, Long John Silver, Frodo and Gandalf) would likely wet their pants, curl up in the backseat in the fetal position and cry for their mothers – if they drove I-95 Sundays.

orienteering race 51:47 [3] 4.0 km (12:57 / km) +141m 11:00 / km
shoes: JALAS

Got a much better start - did get tired two-thirds of the way through. #11 - #12 never seemed to make sense to me, vegetation weird, couldn't find the white woods. Did better today than yesterday - a little more comfortable. Saw virtually no one in the woods - very late start.

Started very tentatively, worried about zero A Meet experience recently - felt on the edge of disaster for the first 4 controls, then warmed up and did reasonably well until late, when I got tired. Nice woods, great visibility.
