Note

Feeling relatively good today after having run twice this weekend. After yesterdays race I had soup, spuds, chicken, carrots and parsnips, a couple of sausages, 2 packets of crisps, a few handfuls of raisins, a twirl, a kebab on chips, another packet of crisps and a few cups of tea. I went to bed before 11 and slept till 7. I can only assume it was the food that did it!

Orienteering race (Long-O 1) 2:03:09 [4] *** 15.0 km (8:13 / km) +400m 7:15 / km
spiked:16/27c shoes: Inov8 MudClaw 270 1st

Had a better run than I thought today. Was only a minute behind Ruairi. I hoped to catch him early on, but it wasn't happening, I felt very slow through the rough. 1,2 and 3 were good to get the scale into the head. By 4 I could see Ruairi, but I wasn't gettin any closer. Made a mistake at 5, went too low. Passed some guys from 6 to 8. Met ciara just after 9 and struggled to lose her until 13, though she did find 12 as i went well off. 14 to 15 fine, mark stevens was going well. To 16 i let declan draw me away from my planned route and i had to readjust. The butterfly was good, as usual a downfall for me. Followed the wrong fence to 23 but it turned out ok. From there on was grand except for the earthwall which was made of stones... I forgot my platypuss and only ate one of Des's gels, definitely not enough.

Running (Waterwaorks Parkrun) 17:40 [4] 5.0 km (3:32 / km) +25m 3:27 / km
shoes: Asics Hyperspeed 3

Did my first Parkrun today. It was good and I'll definitely be back. The course is pretty good, relatively flat with two slight ups and two slight downs. Only having got out of bed 30 minutes earlier, I was not warmed up. I met Robin from Ballymena Runners at the start, had a quick chat as the run began. Starting slow I cranked up the pace until I wasn't overtaking anyone anymore. Met Simon near the end of the first lap when I was eventually warmed and kept it steady till the finish.

Orienteering (Training Planning) 1:00:00 [0]

Whilst the rest were out running, I was sitting on my behind wrecking my brain to put together a decent training exercise. I had just enough time before the guys were back. I'm considering these preparations as mental training, I know they are helping improve my thought process... which could do with alot of improving!

Orienteering (Training Instruction) 45:00 [1] 2.0 km (22:30 / km)

Delivered my session. Didn't go as well as I think it could have, but it was still a decent session.
