Holmesville. Very hot and humid. Had to give directions on how to get back to the car park to a couple of older riders. One was looking very overheated. He was still lying in the shade next to his car when I got back there 40 minutes later.

Kurri. Was on my way to Holmesville but was still raining when I got close so kept going west. Unfortunately didn’t have the map or could have done some checking.

Still not 100% we’ll so took it easy.

Still feeling sick. Went to the doctor this morning and have a range of medicines to take. He said exercising was OK if I felt up to it. I did at the start, not so at the end.

Holmesville. After a short distance I worked out I was too sick to be riding. But I was too stubborn to just go back so rode flat sections at a slow pace. Think it’s time to visit the doctor.

Discovered, after being told by about 10 different people, that it was Wrong Way Wednesday and everyone was riding the XC track in the wrong direction. Except of course me who was too stubborn to turn around and ride the other way.

Luckily a work crisis arose so I had to go back to the car and phone people.

Had been planning to visit Street O on the way home to try to drum up planners and controllers for the bush season but work took too long.

Tough, hot, weeks since last run and still not fully well.

Note

Not well enough to ride.

Went out to have a meeting with team for this year’s Aus MTBO Champs.

About 100 entries today and about 125 people with the pairs. Great effort from Greg getting so many people there. How do we keep them all coming?

Note

Home from holidays in Vietnam and Cambodia. Friends wedding, reunion of the local and foreign staff from the projects I worked on and showing the kids all the places we used to frequent.

Hanoi, Ha Long, Hoi An, Siem Reap and the Angkor temples.

Vietnam still much the same as 20 years ago, busy and chaotic. The main change was many more cars in the chaos.

Angkor was much busier but also more organised/controlled. Guess it needs to be with so many people visiting. Siem Reap has developed a lot to cater for all the tourists and has a bumping nightlife that goes on until after 4am every night. We discovered this from our hotel bedroom which was very convenient to the centre of town, not so convenient for a good nights sleep.

No specific exercise for several weeks. Lots of walking and lots of eating and drinking. Got sick on the last afternoon so had to endure the flights using various medicines. Feeling slightly better now but unless there is a massive improvement MTBO tomorrow will be me helping with new comers and other admin tasks.
