Orienteering race (Glen affric south) 1:25:16 [3]
shoes: VJ Irocks

Tough day physically and completely screwed #1 so not a great start - settled down though until #9 where made a simple parallel error but couldn't recover quickly so about 20min dropped in total across those two.

But with 45th position finish one of the better of the week so others must have had worse.

Orienteering race (Darnaway West) 1:00:05 [3] 6.0 km (10:01 / km) +165m 8:48 / km
shoes: VJ Irocks

Nice area but disappointing result which I can only put down to either running speed or over navigating....

On reviewing the course I only felt I'd made two 'errors' one was #6 where I couldn't see the veg boundary and hence the depression and although I did cut my losses fairly quickly and go out and come back in as per Rhesus's coaching still dropped a boatload of time - don't think running around here would have saved anything as it was the close in nab which let me down here.

#6 to #7 though I just went straight partially just cause I was in a run straight mode after the first 6 controls and didn't consider the train but easily better to path run round then drop in.

Did bin some time on #9 but I wouldn't say excessive amounts.

One of those races where I'd say I'd navved quite well but everyone must have as finished in 66th place worse finish of the week, disappointing after yesterday's flyer.

Orienteering race (Darnaway East) 37:40 [3] 4.4 km (8:34 / km) +110m 7:37 / km
shoes: VJ Irocks

Best day of the week so far.

Probably a mix between it being a middle format and that always working well for me and focussing on reading the map and accurate compass work after watching the middle distance tracking the day before with Rhys and picking up some tips.

No real howlers and happy with route choice 9-10 actually spotted a good around route to avoid the grot.

Bit of a wobble to #7 but no major time binned.

28th today

Note
(rest day)

After how much I struggled yesterday thought I'd actually take a rest day for the first Scottish in a while - so went Nessie hunting instead

Orienteering race (Strathfarrar) 56:31 [3]
shoes: VJ Irocks

Feeling bollocked today from the off and not reading the map well was too far south on #1 to far west on #2 and too far north on #3 - so compass work poor to say the least.

Very rough underfoot and struggled physically but happy enough for the remainder.

As it happened was 44th which was better than yesterday
