Event: JK 2013

Orienteering race (JK2013Sprint) 16:41 [5] 5.0 km (3:20 / km)
shoes: adizero tempo 5

Turned out to be a pretty lush day in comparison to recently and spirits were high, went for the spray on vest and porn shorts in traditional sprint/urban race style and as the sun put in a brief apeparance while I was out there I was grateful for the choice.

All in all a pretty non technical course and ran it fairly well, legs were heavy but thats to be expected after the milage that I've been doing this year (well in comparison to normal anyway) and so not that zippy (might have helped my overall map reading.

So even more annoying that I dropped around 41 seconds on No.8 through just not concentrating and skirting round the wrong side of the building, but all in all looking at the splits I managed my top 50 position (49th) and just pipping timmeo (1 second) through just being consistent and not droppign too much time throughout as non of my legs were particularly fast.

Enjoyed bring on the Southerns and the British

Varied run, went from Hammersmith to Bishops Park along the river, bumped into Paulc by the boathouses in Putney and stopped for a chat.

Good session with Don in Bishops park, then ran home with Ed.

Picked up a few segments on the way round, need to try some without a bag pn

Running (Kingston Breakfast Run) 1:45:26 [3] 16.0 mi (6:35 / mi)
shoes: adizero tempo 5

So went out with the aim of running 6.40's as a confidence/shape test for London with a month to go. Paulc stepped up as my pacer (Ben had already said if he felt good he'd race the second half.

Confidence was low at the start line as usual and so was really good to just be able to concentrate on sticking with Paul and felt fairly good for the 1st 8/9 felt it going over Kingston bridge especially when some guy chatting to us seemed to say he was aiming at a 1.45 for London. - he wasn't but we all started laughing at this and put in a 6.20 mile oops... At this point Ben stuck with his race plan and kicked to move away from us with a pack of 3 aiming for a sub 1.45 today. I just focussed on sticking with Paul as although aerobically fine legs were complaining.

Seemed to hold pace though - and although Paul suggested tucking in behind him into the headwind over the final 3 - there isn't enough of him to bloody shelter behind though! Got a little excited with 2 to go though and Paul pulled me in although with 1 mile to go I got the bit between my teeth as could see Bens stragglers vest in the distance with 5/6 between us and managed to pick my pace up and pull them all but Ben in, although on chip time it's handed me a second on him...

Enjoyed again, like doing these road races running with the boys as it seems to motivate me to move faster - so again big thanks to Ben and especially to Paul who for him did an easy Sunday run to pace me round.

Cheers boys bring on London
