Normal Orienteering race (Jk relays Tyrella West) 36:19 [3] *** 5.0 km (7:16 / km)
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s
Distance - straight line
Somehow managed to get in the men's premier team with Ed and Evan and so felt sick all morning - I really don't do well on the stress levels Before relays.
As it happens Ed had dramas on leg one and came in 34th so not only released the pressure, also stimulated me onto putting the foot down and flew down the field and into the dunes far too fast.
Only major drama was no 1 where I held the line pretty well initially but drifted to the right towards the end and luckily relocated off no5 so didn't lose too much time - still 3 min though! Remainder of course was ok with errors ranking in the seconds but still think there was a good 2-3 min in total if not more!
Intervals seem to have paid off even though its been a while since I did them, hammered the run in fairly hard and caught Evan off guard in the handover due tot he speed... mum did say I looked far too aggressive pounding down the run in though!!
Overall though my best run of the weekend as brought the team up 9 places into 25th and Evan held it! The question of where we would have been is pointless as what happened, happened, but if Ed had adapted to the scale quicker who knows!
Good race all round, having to focus because of the team obviously helps, if only I could carry this focus into general racing then my standard might be different!
