Running - easy 2:30:00 [1]
shoes: Saucony Kinvara - July 2017

So at some point last night i agreed to join some of the nogs for recovery training (like i ever need much persuading to go for a run) ... didnt know where we were going so just put some trainers on and expected 90min max, feeling a bit fuzzy round the edges and expected the others to be tired too. ended up run/hiking to Schreckhrnhutte, above a steep gorge and then at the end a glacier. path turned into a mountaineering path rather than a wanderweg, which meant it was smaller and more technical. if youve run up hills with me youll know im not mad keen on heights and lots of the route was above massive drops, then towards the top there were some bits pretty much up the cliff face with ladders and cables, absolutely shitting my pants there but managed to get past it :-) memorable run! out over 3hrs but some faffing about. Öystein managed t get pretty much everything photographed, then fell on his phone, so we'll see if any of those materialise...

shoes: Saucony Kinvara - July 2017

Morning waddle. Quads even more wrecked!

Orienteering - hard race 17:00 [4]

Sprint Relay. Managed to drop my map in the middle of the run-out and i think it was at least partly the stress of trying to retrieve it in the stampede that meant i started on the back foot (and having lost some ground) and the performance completely collapsed. Having taken so much out in the past two days i was just too tired to deal with it all! Also in great pain especially on the downhills. None of us had the best day ever i think but its hard to be too sad in such a nice place.

Orienteering - hard race 38:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 XTalon 212 April 2017

World Cup middle, Grindelwald. I think the run was about the same amount of okay as yesterday, nothing too bad but not race of the century either. 4-5 smaller mistakes. Tried to run without too much risk, especially on the steep decents! Caught starter before me but unfortunately for my race it was a straight through and no running together.

10th position... i think i'm beyond the stage where "just" a top ten is something i would be properly happy with, but also after such low orienteering confidence and no individual results to speak of for so long, its great to be doing something a bit more useful again so maybe i should let myself off with this weekend!

Orienteering - hard race 1:17:00 [4]

World Cup long above Grindelwald. Only one real miss (#5) somewhere round 90s maybe? Otherwise just some questionable routes. Really happy with how i applied myself on what was a lonely run with altitude struggles, kept fighting and the result like the run was not special but quite alright, good to be back inside top 15 again. My best long distance outside a championship (at first i thought second best ever but forgot about Portugal EOC and Finland woc!)... hopefully helping me on my way back up the rankings, which was the aim today.

Running - easy 31:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony Kinvara - July 2017

walked down out of the embargo (also good sprint relay snooping) then went for a quite steep morning jog up onto the foot of the Eiger. took the road for some of the way back down cos it was less steep, could feel the life expectancy of my knees decreasing on the descent. just as the sun was coming up, amazing.

Orienteering - easy 45:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 XTalon 212 April 2017

Model area, a bit on either map scale. Shan't really say much more, it'll just be banging on about how much i love the mountains.
