Note

was planning a little evening ski too but thought i'd be okay using just the wax left on from last time... no grip at all and i got pissed off pretty quickly and returned home. i guess you have to be familiar with skiing to know how frustrating it is to have no grip, it means every step you take instead of being able to kick off your ski just slides backwards. it's no fun unless you want to just push with your arms (i cant do this, i just come to a stop :-D )
oh well, more fuel in the tank for next week and it was a big week anyway!

nice long run with Linne in Nåsten. warmer today and managed to have too many layers but feels much more comfortable to train. nice mix of surfaces.

variation of the Rödmossan loop with Lisa C and Johanna Ö... everything v beautiful in low sun and good company makes a big differece too! in a much better mood with winter after this :-)

woke up quite late to find that winter had gone off the scale (thermometer at home only goes down to -20), eventually made it out for an eyelash-freezer in Nåsten. quiet in the forest, ski tracks empty!

morning jog. took a while to remember what you wear when it's -14, then to put it on. some activation drills too but i could hardly get a full range of movement in all those clothes :-D

XC skiing - easy 1:35:00 [2]

so much more fun than it looked on paper! luckily my clothes were enough to keep me warm. tracks a bit variable as snow drifted really unevenly but sometimes i could get into a rhythm and just about manage a passable diagonal. even downhills are less traumatic too!

back to the treadmill for Jackie's 2nd session. really good session but again found it a bit easy, cut the recoveries to try and get lactic but it only just came in the last minute. oh well, felt like good work anyway, will up the speeds next time. nice chat with Albin about the weather and then Nicole was also on the treadmill, but i didnt see her in time to coordinate!

some doms in hip flexors and upper hamstrings from skiing but different load means legs also feel good despite high training hours

found they moved everything from where i like to hide in Vinden :-( but managed to find equipment i needed. body sore from skiing (esp back and shoulders, which were working too hard to drag me up hills when there was no grip and i wasnt using core enough)

one of Jackie's new sessions on the treadmill at Ekeby. Manageable, which was good today when i was stressed out! thought ont the way there and at the beginning that i'd be crashing early but then Rassmus appeared on the crosstrainer so thought i should at least look like i'm not slacking off ;-) so managed everything and feel like plenty of room to progress next time. proves that old thing "when you're running through hell, just keep running" (or something like that)

yaasss, first ski of the year! finding my balance in Hågadalen and Nåsten. fell over in every possible way but enjoyed it a lot anyway. usual issues with no grip (aside from crap technique and waxing, maybe being about 4kg lighter than when skis were fitted makes a difference? not much idea of skiing things like that)

just a small morning jog to check out the state of the snow. might wait for another shower before taking the skis out. v pretty though and not so cold as it was, so not such a shock :-)
