Middle distance. this was the real challenge for the weekend, straight to a race without ever setting foot in a polish forest before. oh also first start when there was a lot of summer veg out. it went... mixed! generally good on the short legs but finding it hard to pick the best routes and match the terrain well. also the contours are big here, good not to try going through all the reentrants. so lots of quite big mistakes on the longer legs. but it was really fun to come so far out my comfort zone!

Sprint race. quite a lot less small alleyways and trickiness than expected, but slippery ground from race coinciding with apocalyptic rainfall, plus lots of tourists (walking, on bikes, in cars, on horses) meant there was less time to make orienteering decisions. lost some time but nothing serious.

lunchtime meeting in town so down to Studenternas (it was free!) for drills. then 2x 400m (faster than interval speed - 68, 69) then jog by the river. will go with the autopilot theory for now.

DM sprint at Sävja. even though i know the area quite well now it felt like a good idea to run and support OLGY with their competition. really enjoyed the evening though it was another late return home. went well apart from losing concentration when i almost knocked over a small child - they were playing near a control and i was scared someone bigger than me would come flying round a corner and do some damage! otherwise quite good control.

mega lazy day, just cba with anything, then supposed to run our Jukola test, cba with that either. either body and brain is trying for some kind of autopilot taper (i really wanted to just train through WC but it might not happen that way) or i have a problem.

New shoes time! the others have been flats at the front for a while now and are nearly worn through that bit too. took new ones on a nice Rödmossan adventure. mostly small paths and NOM.
