aaannd back to not having a clue. slightly different terrain for today's Long race, open and near the sea. A bit like Torslanda near Gbg, v craggy and tough, icy and rocky too. started shakily but no big disaster, then a not great route choice on first long leg meant Maria caught me and then i panicked a bit and lost the plot. tried to get it back together, just keep going and learn something, but after more getting stuck in crags and then running 7-8-7 i had lost all motivation! missed the far loop but ran the last part for training value. Rassmus said he stopped at every control to take the route choice. i dont think i did even though i needed to. rushing and jumpy. urgh. so the bad day turned into a bad weekend for my orienteering even though it was good fun. but i guess it cant go well all the time. will be back...

Kicking off WOC 2016 training! have my work cut out. Middle distance training near Strömstad. was prepared for things to be not so smooth, not much experience on this kind of terrain, but it went so so badly. everything went wrong! felt like brain replaced with cotton wool (legs not great either). put it partly down to travelling. out longer but mega faff. lots to learn here.

(includes warm up and down). more trains, shadowing with the orienteering school. path-only in Stadskogen. quite soon after breakfast! good sprint training and fun to chat it through after each interval and try to seem wise. "you've gotta fake it to make it"...

Note

everything in my lower legs is quite tired from running lots in metal dobs on hard ice. so i was going to do some spinning instead of intervals (even though i was looking forwards to intervals all week!) but this afternoon ive been sleepy and felt like i just want to stay inside and eat. so that's what i'll do. packing to do for tomorrow anyhow.

Last night training of the winter! true to form i forgot my compass and swore lots at the snow/fallen trees/map ("old" to put it politely). Trains round Valsätra but not really a fast training, lots of slow motion snow running. When I wasn't in too much of a mood with the winter though i think i did my best night orienteering of the winter, in control and smooth through the controls. will be pleased to put my dim head torch away for the season though i think! (no night SM after deciding i need some kind of limit on races this spring)

Still snowing, not impressed and not so inspired either! but i had to be in town at lunchtime so went for a quick visit to the treadmill. 20x30/30. Progressively faster intervals (a bit faster progression than intended too, turned the speed higher than intended early on and had a rule that every interval was at least as quick as the last ;-) ), the last ten around 3.20/km. which is quite an okay speed for me on a treadmill i think and felt mostly comfortable. not breathing so hard til the last five though, if i want to make a proper session of this the recovery needs to be faster. but have lots of potential hard running later this week anyway.

the last Tisdagsbana of winter! will miss it. legs not wanting anything fast after this morning and ahead of the weekend, luckily the pace was quite easy but me and Elisa cut off the last southward loop when the boys started going for it. lovely night and snow not too slow, the course was quite kind too. some time running along back to KG reminiscing about the winters' tisdagsbanor. even the night i nearly died on Alphabana. http://www.oklinne.nu/documents/documents_open.php...

evening jog. was supposed to be drills but new snow over the ice meant it was enough just to stay on my feet (only fell once :-) ) feeling recovered from the weekend
