NORT round 2, middle distance. distinctly average! some issues with rushing after seeing previous starter exiting 2 as i went in, lost my rhythm in the technical bit and once i got it back i was running with both slices of my Swiss sandwich and the course was quite easy. but i still have some things to be positive about: my average runs are slowly but steadily getting better. i think this is what it's about, rather than having a dramatic breakthrough moment! just hard work and steady improvement.

physically not so strong on the tough terrain, could only keep up properly on the tracks. ongoing project again, also a matter of confidence - not the same "full of energy and really up for it" feeling as in Austria. maybe still getting a bit daunted by the big occasion and the big names? in Gothenburg now, an easy day tomorrow in the forest to rest my sprinting muscles for Tuesday :-)

NORT stage 1 qualification. sometimes not having good enough pictures in my head, some moments where i was the wrong side of being in control. enough to salvage my first NORT final place, even though i cut it quite fine, but overall not such a good performance.

NORT round one final. not good either, too much time spent concentrating on running up ski hill, arriving at the top in some oxygen debt and having to take my route choice then. i missed the best route, losing lots of time. then i lost some of my "fight", i knew it wasn't going to be a good race. i'm quite pissed off, have done enough "getting experience", i know i can orienteer better than this. it felt like a wasted chance :-(

Early morning touristing. V casual speed. massive breakfast after to avoid having to buy so much food :-)

Orienteering - medium 45:00 [3]

middle training, including warm up and down. not v good terrain if you want to feel fast! tough. hard to be aggressive enough when you've not got any adrenaline.

patchy with the orienteering, a cooler head than yesterday but adjusting all the time as i was getting used to the terrain. it will be a tough race in every way on sunday! :-)

Sprint training at Kringsjå. plus warm up, -down and strides. just not clicking today, not thinking ahead enough, no focus! same with my rusty driving skills. luckily survived to the evening and good to have a nice chilled day tomorrow. so much new stuff with work, new home, travel etc. needing to calm down a bit and find my racing head.

Easy recovery run from home. stuck to the tracks today but forest looked lovely (new route again), looking forwards to some terrain training this winter. Legs tired, as expected.

Has been a good week and a half getting used to new job. it doesn't really feel like work, more like i've just got a little brother (Gustaf, 3, enjoys tractors, pillowfights and has just taken up running) and sister (Ebba, 1, enjoys waving hello, giving high-5's and eating cheese sandwiches). But now time to go Nordic Touring and enjoy the last individual races of the season :-)

carrying on building up interval time at Linné training. 3 (3-2-1min) with 1min between reps and 2 between sets. running quite well on 3min reps, others feeling tougher (?!) but feeling v wonky, although hip okay. calves tight at the end so good to keep it a short session, especially ahead of NORT.

i think i was taking this at more than threshold intensity, either need to learn to calm down in group sessions (unlikely!) or run intervals by myself for the winter...

a bit longer and sometimes a bit faster thn aiming for today, got a bit lost in the forest!

evening run. started with 30/30s again but a bit soon after dinner, which nearly reappeared after about 15. so ran in some tough rocky forest for a bit then found a deer path and ran harder for most of the way home. not a "hard" session but not an easy run either, just fun :-)
