And goodbye to Luffarligan :'-( in vårsta, v nice. Bit of doms but not as slow as yesterday. V clean to begin with, and most of the way but got distracted a couple of times by others/helping others and let it slip. Then read a leg ahead going to the last control and wondered for a while why there was nowhere to cross the lake... But pleased with some bits. V careful over the rough to make sure i get to norway unscathed.

Had to be a lunchtime one, got some work just as i was about to head out earlier... Cross trainer, worked reasonably hard. Thought i'd treat myself to a few minutes on the stair machine to finish but turns out, it's quite easy to fall off them.

Nice lake and Ågesta run, mixed terrain. I think beginning with being so sleepy on friday ive been having a virus in head/throat, no major symptoms so i wasnt sure if i was imagining it, but could definitely tell there's something there on this run. I'll see how i feelabout a second run once i've slept a bit.

Pretty much the same as yesterday, but in a middle distance style. Pleased to orienteer 5 times this week! And enjoy it even at a lower capacity...I hope i can move things on just a little bit next weekend. Especially my direction, it's appalling. Did 3 sides of a square on a short leg today...

Went down to dm long, which was in a nice bit of forest towards Nynäshamn. Tried to take this as a direct progression from the past few days rather than thinking "okay i'm ready to race like normal now", as it was only two weeks ago when i pulled out of WOC long because i was quite sure i couldnt successfully complete a long race. So i tried to run steady but not like my life depends on it haha... A smaller miss on the third (direction) but on the fifth i read to quickly and saw "ride" not "index contour" -_- which meant i dropped down to faff about in a rough valley for no reason, then run a bit on the side, not so quick. Got a bit disheartened after that, which distracted me and the end was an excellent sequence of direction misses. Not sure if it was because i limited myself or just being a little bit limited at the moment, probs both, but i wasnt feeling very strong. It's going to take some climbing to get out this hole but at least a start has been made.

Done a lot of sleeping today, probably a good idea. still a bit slow and sleepy here. Okay training so far this week considering starting point, seemed like about 1.45 running most days would be okay and it's worked out fine, not worrying too much about intensity just at the moment. Lots of scope to improve but mostly will be post-move.

Easy in Högmora-Svartvik, round the men's middle course from the weekend. After the last two trainings it was nice that i was very clean through högmora and quite clean in the svartvik bit (a couple of times thinking i knew the area better than i do...) A couple of pauses, and an extra one when Nisse wanted a chat hehe.

Was about to go running from home and saw Luffarligan was at Granby, so went there. As "intervals" but not much time at any big effort because i was mostly lost. Gym doms has arrived but okay push in my step, just getting (mentally?) tired v easily so breaks were good anyway. Not getting good direction but a few more brighter points than yesterday.

oops, a bit late, working... running technique, some more dynamic. the only signs ive had that i ran a race at the weekend, a tiny bit of doms. maybe i wasn't pushing hard enough, but it felt like i was at the time! i think a bit more strength and flexibility would help me get more from myself.

Longish group run round some of the tops from the hut at sälen. Lots of fun, nicely surprised by how much off-piste there was. Got involved in a bit of downhill racing near the end too :-) Massive abuse of trainers. Felt mostly quite good, would like more uphill strength, something to work on this autumn.

No warm down, had to get in the car and follow the relay. Also people keep saying that warm downs do not help recovery. Not sure but it was enough of an excuse today. Thanks to having some handy teammates we won the women's relay, which was brill. Good fun this weekend!

Vasastafetten leg from Risberg to Evertsberg. Rolling hills, ski tracks, the odd small path and a good bit of spång. Felt like i got what i could from myself, okay race and had some men's teams around to help push on. Looking forward to building some better form over the next weeks!

easy run and gym. need to get back to having a better programme, and stop making excuses about not being able to afford the gym, it's a requirement not an optional extra! really have lost a lot of form and strength. cramped a bit doing a single leg squat but otherwise quite a good start.

I've been wondering a little bit what to say abut WOC this year, it's the kind of thing i would write a proper article about but i've not felt like writing for a long time. i've not really been feeling myself for a while, and training has been... well, it's been some training but not as good as it could be. i've lost so much confidence in my training (especially physically, which was always a stronger area!) and the only real honest explanation that i've often been too unhappy to function properly, it sometimes feels like it has a physical effect as well as on my mood.

i always try hard to push through these tougher times, to see if i can surprise myself and race well, because preparation hardly ever goes perfectly. so i tried to give myself every chance, but i couldn't magic any confidence here. there's just not enough of the more basic life needs being met to have enough good feeling to really be able to compete and push hard. it's hard to explain, it feels like a self-protective mechanism and i can't really override that with any amount of determination.

what has been a quite painful week as an athlete has been made better by the people around, who have been great fun, supportive and understanding, and that's meant that instead of completely breaking down i've actually come away with a few solutions. so there are some changes on the way and i'm so excited about that! i can tell when i run that i'm not as far away from normal as it sometimes feels, so i hope in the next few weeks i can return to being a bit more myself :-) i absolutely love what i do and i'll do whatever it takes to keep improving and fighting for even better results.
