short track session, Inverness. really windy and felt like crap warming up, moaned a lot and was sure id never meet the target times. luxury with coaching team McLeod and Street there to help tho and once going the times were under target. 2x1km (3:07, 3:09), then 5x400m (72, 72, 72, 71, 72). pleased i managed to dig in even though i was in such a mood beforehand, good feedback.

obligatory run up local hill Ben Braggie, plus a little extra distance. kept a decent but not eyeballs out effort to the top (20min ascent), otherwise just easy.

Cairngorming! From the Sugarbowl parking (they forgot to come round and check tickets, winning) up Cairn Gorm, over to Ben Macdui, then via Lurcher Crag then path between two crags then past reindeers on way home. some slow steep downhills near the end, and managed to really scrape left knee. stopped bleeding now :-) apart from that life was good! saw loads of other mountains that looked more fun but theyll hve to wait for another day.

met the Poles in Tesco and next thing i knew i was in Inverness joining them (and rest of Europe) for sprint training. good training but the tiredness from the morning was still there, plus a headache, and not so good speed or execution. good idea to skip the offered third training. hope it's not the weekend's illness back for a second attempt, will see how it is after a good night's sleep.

More intervals. ouch. tough but useful session.

10mins solo threshold* on old railway line, then 7x about 700m on grass with L&W AC, slight height gain. at least maanged quite even pace

*aaahahaha... Cat-threshold-fail, not painful but measured 2.9km on map after with small height gain and i'm certainly not that quick.

4x Sandsend-Lythe. Mixed gradient on Lythe Bank, just grinding out the steep bits and trying to inject some speed on the flatter bits. forgot how cruel the flat bit halfway is, when you think you're at the top, but no... over 7min to the turning past the church, then last time carried on "sprinting" to Lythe green to make up to 30min uphill effort. floods of lactic.
