Today i tried out fell running at Guisborough. two laps and quite tough to have steep downs followed by more ups but ran quite "conservatively" to avoid breaking later on. really tough headwind on the open section at the top, hard to keep going forwards. otherwise good on the uphills, not so good on the downs. won some wine :-)

Well worth a trip to run the Poultry Run at Loftus. i still run like an orienteer. but quite pleased with how i ran today, without knowing the course or running other races. maybe a bit disappointing how i didnt fly up the muddy hill like i thought i might (not leaving anyone behind here!) but hardest was turning into the headwind to go home, this put an end to the fight to win the girls' race, but doing better at relaxing on the downhills. still counting this as a road race, we ran about 1 of the 13 hilly km on mud, the rest asphalt. won a LOT of foood :-D

Sort of okay again, managing to eat but legs still weak and stomach a little sensitive. easy run down in Hågadalen from KG, did the UTH ultrasprint on KBH. nope, brain not so brill either, but not that much worse than usual :-P

Linné Xmas trip to Stockholm. Bogesund, relay training in "dödens triangel" Not wanting a mega hard training so went out a bit ahead on my own. couldnt resist the pace when the train caught up tho! end was spoilt a bit when i really didnt agree so much with the map, did an extra loop back to check i had been in the right place.

from Skavlöten, starting in the light but dark most of the way. in a group with Lisa C, Elisa, Rasa and Karin. all good till Lisa's headlamp stopped working, cold and sleety at the end too. a nice one to come home from. i got some "bonus distance" from missing path junctions :-P

Not the planned corridor, turned out OLGY were training in Nåsten too so we joined them. team score and i got all the furthest away ones, not good with a pre-breakfast brain. also OLGY faff even more than Linné but there was fika after :-)

Return to road intervals! :-) Lungs working v well, legs quite okay but hip flexors feeling it most (esp. on downhills - is this strength or flexibility or both?) 5x30/30sec then 7x3min/2min, able to run hard on each after the long recoveries. Felt quick but no idea of pace, running mostly just behind Johan H. and Erik L., Inga "it's definitely cancer" K. just behind me.

Night O in Lunsen. Amazing feeling when you find something well here! nerves held til long leg in the middle, then i was a bit scared and so this didnt go so great and then confidence not so high but aside from the hesitations and moments of doubt i was getting to places quite okay. boys starting behind and i managed to stay ahead of everyone but Thierry and im quite sure i couldnt have done that last year. still not great at night but steps forwards... http://www.dxdeluxe.se/linnekartparmen/show_map.ph...

tisdagsbana. tired now. "fast from the start" week. I ran a bit with the front group but they were really quite quick, then a couple of longer intervals, then jogged home. they ran the whoooole 19km quick (about 1hr 40). is that a good idea?!

Nåsten, mostly running to and from things. one KOM, the control pick, map not working so great blown up to 1:5000. the "real" training was a team competition, which looks nice enough on paper but in reality, standing round in a snowy marsh discussing how best to take the controls on the rock-only map isn't something i find so fun. leg moving more normally, next week should be a normal week!

chatted to Kim about foot and bruising, should be fine if i do some stretching and arch strengthening in the foot. also i should avoid running hard for a bit to avoid getting myositis ossificans (growth of bone tissue in bruised muscle). that sounds minging, best avoid it...

so, about my left foot... since the ground got all frozen about a week ago, it's been quite tough for feet to run on tracks, which are now both hard and uneven. im often getting some tightness in the ligaments under my foot (as you do) and had been stretching it out. earlier last week i started being aware of my left foot quite a bit first thing on a morning and needing to stretch it a bit more. then on Saturdays hellish Lunsen intervals i felt it for the first time in training. It was sore after and when i did the usual stretching with it later i noticed a big lump on the bone on the inside on the foot, above the arch. where tib. post. joins on. no much time to think about it then and training yesterday fine in the forest, feeling it only on the last 400m on the track. but still sore after, lump still there, and i was scared i might have stressed fractured the navicular. but after further prodding and looking up on the internet that's thankfully not looking likely, it feels much more like just a plantar problem or arch problem (maybe arch collapse) but why the lump though?!

this week is an easier week anyway, i have visiting relatives who would like to go shopping and eat cake. quite a short run this morning, needed to run an errand in town so ran down there. typical plantar fasciitis feeling just on the inside bottom of the heel but nothing more. will keep stretching and doing arch exercises (though i cant seem to claw up my left big toe either...)
