control picking at Redmires. foresty bit is a tiny hidden gem! need to tape my ankles, so much extra movement in my ankle i think doesnt help at all. not great on the compass, a bit distracted wondering how it would react, but it went okay.

Back on my noble steed for a one-off. Had a go at the Edale loop in the other direction. Stunning day, first time peak district cycling with no gloves on! Bit cautious on the downhills, out of practice, but enjoyed it.

suddenly my right heel was having a mare again. I completely flipped out but today it was quite a lot better. Kim investigated and it seems the subtalar joint got jammed up (probably on Saturday) and the two hard sessions since then have bruised/inflamed the sensitised tissue round it. Went for a small run afterwards round endcliffe and it seems fine now, a bit better for it even? So ive lost a session today but hopefully not too much more.

Brown course at Hawse End up by derwent water. Much quicker and simpler area than yesterday. Tried to put in a good effort, small break later on in the course - complete fiasco with the uncrossable fence overprint but re started after that and applied myself well. One noteworthy slope mistake, not convinced by all my route choices.

not at all an advocate of half sessions but still resisting the cold. so thought it was a nice chance to see how my x-trainer session works as a run. with no machine to regulate intensity it's mentally a v tough session even though you don't push really hard straight away, to keep the "rests" as a steady float and not push too hard on the faster bits. didnt go all the way up the progression because of the virus (feeling a bit heavy, etc.) but can work at progressing. running pathetically slowly at the minute. round the paths near forge dam.

Bit late out, had been planning to run with Kim but found out that she too had succumbed to the Baxter family cold (think i'm possibly fighting it off but feel fine running). In the end ran from home round the forge dam - crimicar - top path - crosspool loop, it's been a while! Forgot how long the downhill homewards on the tarmac is, should probably run the other direction. Sleety.

From the golf course. Not directly related to the easy days last week (you could argue that it's all related) my right lower leg has been a diva ever since the slushy lakes weekend. It's the side that halted proceedings in the autumn. Now the knot in my calf seems to be on the way off, which is nice, because i'm dying to run a hard session again. This morning i was weak and chose easy running over a double X-trainer intervals day but it was v enjoyable and good chillout after being The Adult at home overnight (E is not at all stressful to look after but it's still extra responsibility).

Ran to club training up at Burbage boulders. Then to fox house after. Underestimated how much the whole of porter valley would be still frozen and polished into a hilly ice rink (fine on top now with snow cover)

shadowing J and then running easy round a longer course at botanical gardens/edge. really nice course, great that i still don't know the area well so n going off memory. trying to really get everything perfect, maybe not completey but really not many footsteps wrong. i do still love sprint really, when it's a good one.
